- Valentine's Day sweetened by love-themed music - On Valentine's Day, many lovers try to select the perfect mix of songs that will lead to passionate fireworks at the end of a romantic evening. Music retailers and record labels have made sure there are plenty of options for those looking to set the mood. "It's second to Christmas. It's a gift-giving holiday," says Scott Seviour, senior vice president of artist development at RCA Music Group ... Barry Manilow's latest album "The Greatest Love Songs of All Time" wasn't specifically intended as a V-Day release -- it was released late last month -- but "it all ties into love and romance," says Seviour. - Barry Manilow has given Susan Boyle a big thumbs-up - but has warned the Britain's Got Talent runner-up of the perils of fame. Copacabana superstar Manilow, one of the biggest singing stars of all time with record sales of more than 80 million behind him, said that stardom had almost finished him off. "With Susan Boyle, fame hit her so hard that it kind of knocked her off her feet. When she appeared on Britain's Got Talent, it was very moving to see what she could do. 'I think she's a good singer, and everyone's very curious to see how far she can go, but speaking from my own personal experiences, I hope she keeps her old friends and family around her." Barry said that his loved ones helped him keep his feet on the ground, "In my case, they kept me grounded because when fame hit me, suddenly everything was different. I couldn't even go to the grocery store, and it was quite an unpleasant experience at times. I was kind of lost because the only people around me were people I was paying. It's easy in that situation to get into drugs and drink and lose the way but, luckily, I had my family there to say: 'What's happening to you?' Success can be harder to cope with than failure... There's no school that teaches you how to handle it all." Barry's latest album, a compilation of love songs called The Greatest Love Of All, is in the shops now in time for Valentine's Day. - LEHS hidden talent will be on display at the Copacabana - Little Elm High School theater students are donning formal suits, sequins, satin, tap shoes, and feathers to create the Copacabana night club on stage for their production of “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow and lyrics by Bruce Sussman. The story is loosely based on Manilow's hit song “Copacabana.” Cast members dance and sing up a storm to make the show definitely something not to be missed ... The show will be performed on January 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. On January 16 there will also be a 2 p.m. matinée performance. The January 17 performance will also be a matinée at 2 p.m. At the Sunday show there will also be a drawing for a Dell computer. Tickets are being sold for that drawing.
