- The "Copacabana" Comes to Middletown - For all you, Barry Manilow fans, watch as his [1978] Grammy Award-winning hit song, "Copacabana" comes to life onstage right here in Middletown. On February 27, 28, March 5, 6, and 7, the local nightlife will definitely take on a dramatic flair when the students of Middletown High School bring "the hottest spot north of Havana" to their hometown! Through the direction of Dr. Veronica Perrine, choreography of Amanda Chas, and set design of Kyle Wessel, Middletown's stage will be transformed once again into another crowd pleaser! Dr. Perrine promises that this year's production will be "full of fun"! "Copacabana" follows a wannabe songwriter, Stephen, as he hopes to create a hit musical. His imagination takes him back to the 1940s as he dreams up a story about a struggling young singer Lola Lamar, who arrives in New York City from Tulsa aspiring to be a star. She lands a gig at the famous Copacabana Nightclub and has high hopes of becoming a 'Copa Girl' dancer with a little help from the bartender, Tony Starr. As the first curtain opens, the audience is drawn into a dreamlike scene of an elegant nightclub. Showgirls, waiters, gangster-types, and entire company are frozen on stage. In the center, Stephen is standing visualizing his dramatic masterpiece. The audience can't help but be entranced by what is "materializing" in his "mind". Suddenly, the stage comes alive before them as the cast unfreezes and begins to dance and sing to the song that is just waiting to be debuted, "Copacabana". Show dates are February 27, 28, and March 5, 6, and 7th and the curtain opens at 7:30 pm. Reservations can be made starting February 12th by calling 378-4140 ext 5055. Prices are $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for senior citizens and children (12 and under). All seats are reserved. Although tickets will be sold at the door, people are urged to make reservations early because the shows are expected to sell out. (Delaware Online, 2/16/2009)

- Barry Manilow Red Carpet Interview with ET's Thea Andrews - "I'm so happy that they found me once again, they could easily ignore me. I've been making records for so many years. I'm so happy they found this album ("In The Swing Of Christmas") because it's not about me. It's about these three musicians. I found these three young musicians. They're REAL jazz musicians. Matt Herskowitz, David Rozenblatt and Mat Fieldes (MaD FUSION). When I got the opportunity to make this album, I went, Oh, maybe I could showcase these guys. So I'm just the boy singer on this. Really. And I did these arrangements for these guys. It's great that the Grammy committee found this album. Maybe they'll get a break because ... they're the real deal. And it'd be great if I can give them a shot." ... "We're doing the Nassau Coliseum for a benefit for the Breast Cancer Awareness. And you know... Me and Valentine's Day... Hey! Come on down. We'll all hold hands!" ... About attending Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Party: "We all agree the man is the Einstein of music. I, personally, am the grateful recipient of his genius. He's been in my corner since "Mandy," encouraging me and mentoring me, for all these years, so I have no words anymore but to thank him." (WCBS-TV, 2/9/2009)
