Since this was my first Barry Manilow show, I gotta say the energy was great; but when Barry sat down at the piano and played "We Made It Through the Rain" in reference to the tragedy in New York I had heartfelt tears in my eyes. My husband (who took me to this show for my birthday) who is a big 911 operator even had to wipe a little tear from his eye. It was so tragic for everyone in that field, even those here like my husband who could do nothing but listen to his fellow police, firemen and ambulance workers give there lives in the line of duty. Anyway, I think I have developed a little crush on Mr. Manilow and it has nothing to do with his status but the fact that he is one of the most truly talented musicians that I have had the honor of experiencing. - Jacqueline Maharaj (Vancouver, BC, Canada) (12/30/2001)

[What I liked about this show was] the sound! The sound system was awesome. The music was so rich. I couldn't stop moving, and clapping. I knew most of the words and songs of this new album, "Here At The Mayflower", and was "blown away" at how even more wonderful they sounded live. I found it to be the best ever. Well done! - Cathy Nicol (Spokane, WA) (12/31/2001)

I got to sit in the front row and enjoyed the unobstructed view of Barry. I like the new CD very much, especially "Not What You See." I also like the way Barry interacts with his fans... Kudos Barry, you're still good after all these years. Keep it up! - Vickie Dutcher (Vancouver, Canada) (1/9/2002)

This concert was definitely a treat for me after being a fan for 16 years and never having attended a concert before (Barry's last concert in Vancouver was in 1981!!). I had front row seats so I didn't miss a thing. The music was incredible; Barry's performance was simply amazing. After watching all the videos and DVDs, nothing compares to seeing him LIVE! I loved every second of it, and Barry, don't wait another 20 years to return! Love ya!! - Michelle Chang (Vancouver, B.C., Canada) (3/31/2002)

We both are music fans. I am 74 and my wife is 68. Barry is an absolute talent. He works so hard to entertain his audience. His backup groups are totally professional and enhance his abiity to project his talent. Thank you, Barry! - Stan and Helen Blackwell (Vancouver, Canada) (12/23/2003)

Really enjoyed taking my daughter, Mandy, to her first Manilow concert (Gee, I wonder where her name came from!) in Vancouver. We both had an awesome time. I really wanted to volunteer Mandy for the "Can't Smile" number. Thought it would have been really cute to have her up there with Barry -- ...yes, my name is Mandy... yes, I was named after the song, and I just turned 16 on September 11... -- but she was too shy. But it was really good to have two generations enjoying the show and the memories! - Hazel Breakey and Mandy Taylor (Vancouver, B.C.) (4/10/2004)

My girlfriend, Tammy, and I saw Barry [many years ago]. We married and [several] years later, after we had separated, we went together to see him again. It was awesome and I felt like I was back in high school! Tammy recently died of cancer at the age of 47. I found a Manilow CD we used to listen to and I cried through the whole thing. I wrote a song just after she died and thought that I'm sure she would love to hear Barry Manilow sing it. I'm sure she would be smiling from the heavens! - Nat Monachese (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) (5/15/2012)

December 21: Is it possible to get better and better with time? I think YES - most definitely! Twenty years have gone by since I first saw Barry Manilow in concert, and this concert was a gem! I was so impressed. I've been a fan of Barry Manilow since the mid-70's. The music is rich, warm, moving and so much fun. It was wonderful to hear all of my old favorites and I was truly impressed with his new work as well. It's great stuff - pure Manilow: compelling lyrics, poignant melodies, incredible arrangements, a stirring, powerful voice and a hands-down fantastic band (amazing brass, keyboard & percussion). What a professional! Barry continues to prove himself as a fabulous entertainer: then, now and always ... What a great experience this concert was. I'll never tire of that beautiful voice and the incredible music he brings to life. It's an AWESOME concert. - Jan Holwegner (Edmonds, WA) (12/28/2001)

December 22: This was a last minute Christmas gift to myself and I took my boyfriend with me. We have both become "Barry veterans", and we were not disappointed. His new material was great! Barry was relaxed, and his voice was strong, smooth, and in top form. And, in light of September 11th events, I believe there was much more of an intimate connection with the audience than ever before. I certainly felt it there in the 3rd row, and we loved him back too. - Rebecca Keeney (Portland, OR) (12/27/2001)

December 22: In the middle of the concert, Barry's nose started to run. A few times during the concert, he had to have his microphone turned off so he could turn his back on the audience and blow his nose! He said in anguish, "Oh, God, I'm getting a cold!" The next week, he had to reschedule three dates in Los Angeles because of severe bronchitis... I'm embarrassed, yet proud to say, HE GOT THE BUG IN SEATTLE!! Definitely a memorable moment. - Jim Rupp (Seattle, WA) (1/3/2002)

I liked Barry talking about being at the Paramount, Puyallup, Mt. Rainier, and saying he could dig it here in Seattle. The shows were great!! I love the set, and of course, the "Mayflower" CD. I love him opening with "I'm Comin' Back." I enjoyed the Hoo-hoo, hoo, hoo bit ("It's A Miracle"). The spotlight intro to "Harmony" was fun. I can't wait to see that... Barry, thank you for sharing your "musical motor" with us and I consider it an honor to be part of your "family". - Gwen Howard (Seattle, WA) (1/7/2002)

I loved everything about this concert and every other one I've seen. I took my 7-year-old daughter and she just loved it. We were in the second row and she just couldn't believe Barry was so close. I think she is spoiled if I don't get her closer (Next time she will be upset!). This concert was the best one yet! - Wendy Macham (Everett, WA) (3/10/2002)

The show was great! Barry had everyone on their feet. The excitement of Barry [carried] into the audience. Even though he wasn't feeling too well, it didn't bother him except for his nose. What a showman! Hope he will return to Seattle SOON!! - Pat Raymond (Lacey, WA) (5/8/2003)

I was just in complete awe during the whole show. Even though I am only 30 years old, I grew up listening to Barry's songs and my friends and I would place bets on which of us would marry him. I was taught how to dance by my babysitters from a very young age and they used Barry's music. I am waiting for his next tour so I can see him again. - Lisa Hustad (Seattle, WA) (7/5/2003)

My favorite memory, and the one that almost breaks my heart sometimes, is meeting Barry at the Paramount. My husband and I we lucky enough to stay in the auditorium until Barry came out after the show. After 25 years of dreaming about meeting Barry and all the things I wanted to tell him about what his music means to me, I couldn't say a word! I never got to say what I wanted. I had also always dreamed of having a picture with him, but missed the opportunity even though we had a camera there. I want to cry every time I think about it, but will love Barry forever! I want so much to let him know that he has been there singing the music that's been in the background of my life since the first album, and to thank him for all the joy he's given me. - Kim Bond (Shoreline, WA) (7/12/2009)
