January 6: With all that had happened in the months preceeding this concert, including the death of a very dear friend of mine -- the person who initially introduced Barry to me, yes, a New Yorker herself -- Barry's energy, music, and Magic were all the more needed and appreciated. I was soooo glad to hear so many of "the old songs," which of course Barry never gets tired of singing because he puts new life and universal inspiration into the lyrics every time he sings them. And it was also superb to see him sing [songs from] "Here at the Mayflower" in concert. Barry is unequivocally my favorite famous person. Thank you, Barry, for the power of universal emotion and an understanding that not only makes the whole world sing, but also moves us to tears and inspires us in countless ways. - Anna Kalina (San Diego, CA) (3/11/2002) First Show: I've idolized Barry since I was 5 years old. I have many of his CDs, like "Ultimate Manilow." - Barry Natino (of New York) (10/10/2006) January 6: The 2002 show in Hollywood at the Kodak was my second time seeing Barry and is still my favorite. We got to see several Here At The Mayflower songs, including "Not What You See." I also heard "We Live on Borrowed Time" for the first time, and I fell in love with it instantly. Barry, the show, and the venue were all perfect. Truly a night to remember! - Hallie Ranta (San Diego, CA) (2/19/2008) Barry sings great songs -- all of them are my favorites! - Gregorian Jerahmeel Hartanto (Jakarta, Indonesia) (6/21/2011) [ Press Release - December 28, 2001 ] [ HOLLYWOOD & HIGHLAND - KODAK THEATRE INFO ] |

First/Favorite Show (January 11): I thought the concert was GREAT! - I loved it. Can't wait to go to another one. - Kathy Picklesimer (Milford Center, OH) (2/8/2002) When I think of my teen-age years and all the emotions that I felt, as I hear one of Barry's songs, it all comes back to me. I would sit and listen to his albums all the time and do it again. Thanks for the memories. - Michelle Krill (Mansfield, OH) (2/21/2002) January 11: I attended the concert with my 26-year-old daughter to celebrate her finishing her chemotherapy and radiation treatments for breast cancer. We have always been huge Barry Manilow fans and I was thrilled that I could share my first Manilow concert with her. Barry is absolutely gorgeous, adorable, sexy, etc. Can't wait to see him again. My grandchildren (ages 7 and 3) are also fans of Barry. The legacy lives on!! - Jean (of Ada, OH) (5/20/2002) I had waited almost 30 years to see Barry in concert. I received my ticket to this concert from my mom for Christmas. She knew how much I really wanted to go. I took my friend (Beth). Hubby wouldn't go! As soon as Barry took the stage, the tears started. I couldn't believe I was there seeing him and all I kept asking Beth was... Is HE really real?? I just wanted to touch him to make sure I was not dreaming! I did get as close as the third row but would've given anything to be up front. This night was a dream come true and I will never forget the Magic I felt! Barry, your music has meant so much to me and still does. Thank you! - Laura (of Columbus, OH) (3/8/2003) Favorite Show (January 11) - Bill (of Vienna, WV) (9/13/2004) I love all of Barry's concerts! I have good memories of the ones I went to with my friends and my husband. God bless you, Barry, for all these wonderful years you brought a smile to my heart! - Rose Marie Bilka (Garfield Heights, Ohio) (6/6/2011) |

Barry's voice and his songs are magic (with bronchitis and all). His facial expressions are so humorous. He puts his whole body in his songs. He is down to earth. He really appreciates his fans just as much as I appreciate him. Keep coming to Buffalo! - Donna Wrobel (Niagara Falls, NY) (1/14/2002) This concert was absolutely the best of Barry. I have seen all of his appearances here in Buffalo and I was blown away by his showmanship. I only wish we could have stayed longer! I love the new CD and hope that someday Barry makes it to Broadway and takes it by storm. Keep on singing for us - the world needs more of Barry's wonderful music. - Debbie Russo (Buffalo, NY) (1/14/2002) My first experience seeing Barry Manilow live was absolutely amazing. Although [the audience] was 90% women, I certainly enjoyed every second of his show and would see him again. His voice is far above any vocalist I have ever seen and I've seen many concerts. Barry is just a true professional and performer that made my night out with my wife, away from the kids, a lasting memory. Cant wait to see him again. - Steve (of Ontario, Canada) (1/18/2002) [What I liked about the show was] Everything! Barry's voice makes me melt when I hear him sing. Pure entertainment keeps everyone on their feet and dancing in the chairs. I love when a singer attracts mixed crowds with young and old. I just love him! It was my fourth time seeing him and the first time for my husband. HE wants Barry to come back! I will never stop listening to Barry. He will never be out of style like other performers. - Phyllis Duckworth (Buffalo, NY) (1/26/2002) The thing I liked best about this concert was that my husband used to be personal friends with Barry, and it was the last concert he was able to go to before he passed away three weeks later. I just wish I could have let Barry know he was there, as the last time he saw my husband he lived in Erie, PA! - Joi Dixon (Buffalo, NY) (1/14/2003) First Show: I've been a fan of Barry's for years! I just thoroughly enjoyed everything about the show. He brings such an energy and charisma around him and has the ability to arouse his audience just by stepping on stage, not to mention when he starts to perform! - Kerry Mank (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) (2/28/2003, 3/3/2003) Had a wonderful time. This one was the first of many Barry concerts I saw in 2002. My sister-in-law and I sat on the floor, ten rows back. I loved it when Barry came back out on stage after the band had left and told us all we needed to go home because we all had to get up in the morning. He then started singing "One Voice" as only Barry can. Sounded great just Barry on stage, no band! So glad I got to hear him sing "Welcome Home" that night. - Darlene Corio (Bloomfield, NY) (6/23/2003) This was the first concert my BFF and I attended together. I decided to make us costumes as Copacabana Girls, complete with plastic fruit on our head. I checked at the sound booth (prior to the show starting) on when 'Our Song' would be played. We knew the lead-in song so when we started to get our outfits on all our neighbours helped us get into our outfits. We were 7 rows from stage and we think Barry saw us. Everyone around us wanted their pictures taken with us. It was truly a memorable evening not just because of our BFF experience and costumes but because we witnessed the most amazing performance I have ever witnessed, and I have attended over 250 concerts in my lifetime. Photos of this night will certainly be gracing my BFF's 50th celebration next month. Cheers from Niagara Falls, Canada! - Karen Thompson (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) (10/8/2013) First Show - David Clark (Fairmont, West Virginia) (10/3/2021) |

January 17: This was my fifth Barry experience. Every one gets even better! I could not believe how amazing a show Barry and his band put on. I absolutely love the new set and the new album. Seeing the new songs actually performed was so much better than anything I had imagined! I screamed and cried [during] the whole concert, just waiting for Barry to look my way. When he did, I screamed and fell back into my seat! By far, this was clearly the best concert I have ever had the pleasure of being part of. Barry is better than ever, and if you haven't seen him, grab your ticket before it's too late! This is nothing to miss out on!! - Jennifer Cole (Hollidaysburg, PA) (1/21/2002) January 17: [The show was] Sensational! I thought his 8/10/1997 concert (my first) was fantastic, but this one at the Benedum Center was even better. I took my buddy from work (Michael), along with his sister (Beth) to the Benedum and we all had a fabulous time. This was my second Manilow concert; the first for both Michael and Beth. Right from the start, as the 15 musicians ran out onto the stage to take their positions (while the lights on stage were changing colors & designs to an anticipated beat), to Barry coming out for a second encore (leading the audience in an a capella version of "One Voice", that felt like we were singing a collegiate alma mater song), the entire concert was fantastic. Several of Barry's greatest hits plus eight songs from his new "Mayflower" CD and two songs from "Harmony" made the two-act, 2-hour-and-20-minute show one of his best. Not only did I had a wonderful time, but my friends enjoyed this experience as well. We will never forget this night along with the memorable songs Barry and his musicians performed that made it extra special. - John Gallaway (Port Vue, PA) (1/21/2002) January 19: Awesome, awesome show!! Such energy, even though Barry was ill. My personal favorites - "Turn The Radio Up"; "Even Now"; "I'm Coming
Back"; "Welcome Home"; "Harmony" tunes; "Talk To Me." This was the fourth show I've seen over the years. Barry continues to get better with age. - Donna Radmanich (Glenshaw, PA) (1/26/2002) January 19: This was my first Barry concert, and even being sick, Barry gave his "friends" 110% of himself. He exceeded my expectations of what a Barry concert would be. Barry playing "Joe" was my favorite part of the concert. He comes across as being a genuinely warm and caring person. I would love to just sit and talk with him, like "friends" do! Barry, please keep touching our hearts with your music! - Bonnie Haney (Lexington Park, MD) (2/21/2002) I thought the January 17, 2002, concert in Pittsburgh was one of the best. The staging, the program... even though I had heard that Barry had been ill. He was in excellent voice and in good spirits. It was a joy. - Jean Perlman (Pittsburgh, PA) (2/23/2002) January 19: BARRY IS FANTASTIC! My Mom and I sat only seven rows back. What a voice! What a performer! He is the greatest!! He keeps the hopes and dreams of many alive. THANKS BARRY! - Sherri Puskarich (Washington, PA) (7/1/2002) January 18: I was sitting in the fourth row, center! The view of Barry took my breath away ... I wish I could sit in that same seat everytime Barry comes to Pittsburgh!! - Rose Danlovich (Pittsburgh, PA) (7/12/2002) [The] concert at the Benedum Center was spectacular! He performed all the old favorites and his new songs. The venue was also very nice, upscale and what he deserves. The concert was a great and memorable experience. - Ginny Whipple (Freedom, PA) (8/12/2002) First of all, every Barry concert is wonderful because of the talent and personality of Barry Manilow, the person. He truly gives his all to his "friends" of which I have been one since 1975. I have only been able to attend about 13 concerts over the years, all but one in Pittsburgh, the other being in Vegas in 2005. - Linda Metelsky (Freedom, PA) (5/2/2009) First Show - Kristine Rebel (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) (3/25/2015) |

January 23: I have waited 22 years to see Barry in concert. His music has kept me going during those 22 years. My husband took me to the Rosemont Theatre as a Christmas present. The show was wonderful! Awesome!! Barry was better than I ever imagined. - Kim Tyler (Freeport, IL) (1/24/2002) Thank You, Barry, for a wonderful, fun-filled evening at the Rosemont Theatre (January 24th). The concert was fabulous, inspiring, and left me in a trance and wanting more. Barry, you are by far, the best entertainer/musician ever. Thank you, thank you, thank you! - Janette Lockwood (1/25/2002) January 25: Having never seen Barry in concert before and this being our first time, it was absolutely awesome! I just loved the whole show. Barry is so professional, just an all-around great entertainer and performer. My husband bought the tickets for my 53rd birthday and he made the comment that he thought he would be bored. [Instead] he was pleasantly surprised. He enjoyed the show as much as I did and we would see Barry again in a heartbeat. Can't wait for him to return to the area and are hoping that "Harmony" comes to Chicago so that we can see that also. Thank you, Barry, for such wonderful memories and such a great evening. - Kathy Roethel (Orland Park, IL) (1/26/2002) January 26: I loved everything about the concert. I really liked it when he picked somebody from the audience to sing "Can't Smile Without You" with him. The concert was awesome, even though my seat was way up in the second balcony. I'm hoping to see him again soon and next time I'll be right up front! He is my Favorite Male Singer! - April Petre (of Illinois) (2/10/2002, 8/2/2002) January 26: Barry was so incredible in Chicago. I LOVED the new music, and even though he was still not feeling great, he put on such a show. From the first time I saw him in 1983 until now, he just gets better and better. Hearing "One Voice" a capella was awesome. It moved me to tears. He is by far the "Ultimate" (Manilow)!! - Roxie Kolasch (Monticello, WI) (2/15/2002) January 23: It was the first night of the Chicago series. I had seen Barry in Las Vegas in December and thoroughly enjoyed the shows, especially the "Mayflower" segment and the two songs from "Harmony." But when he walked out in Chicago, I was in Row B of the pit, and I swear my teeth were chattering like it was below zero in there. I have loved every concert I've ever attended, but this tour and this CD is so thrilling for me! I just love it. My only regret is that I couldn't afford to do more than the 15 shows I'm seeing! And I'm so excited that he's finally getting the respect he so well deserves! It's wonderful for the fans who have been around for a long time. Sold out venues, reviews -- it's all just great! - Ann Underwood (Milwaukee, WI) (2/15/2002) This show was so dramatic for me because of the amount of time that I had spent searching for that perfect ticket. On a day that I was off of school (I am a teacher), I was determined to score a ticket! Well, I did. Orchestra/pit row 1 seat 3 (out of 6)! To be this close to someone that I have loved since I first saw him (at age twelve in 1984) was amazing! Throughout the show Barry had not been paying attention to the people in the pit. I raised my hands into the air and yelled, "Barry Manilow! I love you!!" He grabbed my hands and squeezed them - I mean REALLY squeezed them! He mouthed "Thank you." While waiting for my car to come around [after the show], I began chatting with two women. They asked me where I had sat and I laughed because it seemed -- even at that point -- so WRONG to be able to see him so close. I told them and they went NUTS saying, "You are the one whose hands he grabbed!!" Since waving to Barry through a pair of binoculars CONVINCED me that he could see me up on that lawn at Poplar Creek as a 12-year-old, I am as elated now as I was back then. Thank you, Barry, for all that you have given to me. You are a blessing to music, and a blessing to those who hold you as near to their hearts as I do. - Miriam Berg (Woodstock, IL) (4/5/2002) January 24: I will never forget the concert of January 24, 2002, at Rosemont Theatre. I had lost my best friend that day and I had taken it very hard. Luckily I had a ticket to Barry's concert that evening. I wouldn't know how to say thank you enough to Barry for putting a smile on my face on one of the worst days of my life. Barry is absolutely spectacular! I have been listening to his music for many years now but this night was so special to me. To put it simply, it was beyond words. Barry never fails to touch my heart in a way no one else ever has! I don't know how to say thank you enough to Barry for that excellent concert, most of all for making me feel like he was there when I needed him most. I love Barry's music more than anything else in the world! - Mary Catherine Berent (Chicago, IL) (4/8/2002) First Show (January 25) - Kelly Travis (Gary, IN) (6/11/2002) January 26: I guess you could say I have experienced Barry Manilow "ultimately". I have seen him in various venues with various seat locations over the years, but for this concert in Chicago I obtained front row civilian seats. It was a completely different experience to enjoy the man up close ... From "I'm Comin' Back" to "Let Freedom Ring" the energy and charisma were non-stop. My husband and 7-year-old son accompanied me to this concert and when Barry sang "Not What You See," all three of us swear he was singing about the lives of Esther and Joe directly to my "sonny". We were sure he could see my son as close as we were to the stage. Barry has said a whole new generation is discovering his music and for those of us who have been loyal fans throughout the years it is not surprising. His songs are timeless and an inspiration to the young and young-at-heart. Since I am a music teacher I am so familiar with the power of music to touch and change lives. Barry definitely posesses this power and he will undoubtedly influence more generations to come. - Jan Gidley (Fort Wayne, IN) (8/30/2002) I went to the concert with my mom and sister who are also Barry fans... especially my mom. My mom and sister had gone the previous night. My mom was diagnosed with cancer in Dec. 2001, she died in August 2002. Barry brought her so much joy. She always said how much he made her smile and made her feel so good. Even in her last weeks when she couldn't talk coherently, we would put Barry in the CD player, and she'd still sing along... it was amazing. So this was our last concert together. She would have rather been with her two daughters and seeing Barry than any place on earth! Thank you Barry! - Cindy (of Grand Rapids, MI) (8/19/2004) January 23: I had seen Barry several times, however, my wife had never seen him. I knew his show would be second to none. I surprised my wife with tickets. She stated she didn't want to see Barry Manilow and reluctantly went with me. A 4-hour drive to the Chicago area and hardly a word said. After her return to work her fellow workers informed me that she really enjoyed the show but didn't want to tell me. She finally broke down and admitted that she was happy she had gone stating that Barry is a true entertainer. I'd pay to see him again and again and again! An American icon!! - Martin Vota (Taylorville, IL) (1/9/2007) Barry sang the new songs from "Here At The Mayflower." I hope he brings this music to Broadway soon! Thank you, Barry, for the years of enjoyable music. I'm so happy you decided to pursue your passion. You are an inspiration for us all to follow our dreams! - Nancy Rogo (Lisle, IL) (6/17/2009) Barry opened with "I'm Comin' Back" - Totally OUTSTANDING opening number! - Al Svita (River Grove, Illinois) (1/27/2012) First Show (January 26): I love Barry's music and I loved seeing Barry! - April Moisant (10/16/2012) Highlights (January 23): I'm Comin' Back / Not What You See / Talk To Me / two songs from the musical Harmony! |

Wow! From the first beats of "I'm Coming Back" to the last note of "One Voice," I was entranced. Sitting just ten rows back in the center I was eye-to-eye with Barry. I felt like he was singing to me the whole time. I believe that I was the youngest member of the audience. Hey, I'm only 20! And it's like Barry said, "It's not easy to say that you're a Barry Manilow fan." How true. After attending this concert I have realized my true love... music. It is something I love to hear and play. I have played piano and percussion for almost 14 years now and I still love going out and playing the first notes of a concert. Thanks for an unforgettable evening Barry! I hope you come back to New Orleans soon! - Allison Guidry (West Monroe, LA) (2/3/2002) New Orleans was even more special [than the first time I saw Barry (Dec. 14-15, 2001)]. It was good to see how he had expanded the show and he looked more comfortable in doing it, like he matured into the show. What really made it special was that my 17-year-old son wanted to attend it with me. He throughly enjoyed it! He had no idea that Barry was the performer that he was and has really come to enjoy his art of music. He loves what Barry has done using the computer and machines to make all the music by himself. He even owns the Here At The Mayflower CD... and plays it! For someone who likes Pink Floyd that is saying a lot!! Barry's music has brought a lot of joy and entertainment to my home for many years and I will always be grateful to him for that. - Janese Pugh (Baton Rouge, LA) (2/16/2002) Every Manilow concert has been an awesome experience, but the one I attended in New Orleans was Super-Great because I had second row-center seats! Barry was so close all night and he put on his usual high-energy performance. I felt like I was having my own private concert! - Carla O. Percy (Baytown, TX) (2/17/2002) My all time favorite Barry Manilow concert was in New Orleans the night before the Superbowl in 2002. What a wonderful blessing to have Barry in New Orleans! The concert was intimate and beautiful. I love the [feeling that] he is singing just for you. At every show also, there's always a moment where he looks at you. I don't know how he does it; making eye contact with everyone! Spectacular!! I love his talent, his magic, his vulnerability and smile! Loved seeing him in person and seeing those hands, those great hands that play the piano for us. The smile and the voice are yours for a night. He's the best! New Orleans knows great music and what a treat it was to hear the best music ever made in our city, by Barry Manilow! - Carolyn Chehardy (New Orleans, LA) (7/15/2003, 6/27/2004) It was great getting together with friends and attending Barry's concert together. The most memorable is it was one of the last few times I saw my friend Sandi before she died of cancer. Attending concerts together and our friendship over the years since our first concert in the 70's makes that one of my most memorable. - Cheryl Riecke (Covington, LA) (7/4/2009) Well, I am not a 'huge' fan of Barry Manillow, but my loving wife of 20 years is. On Feb 2, 2002 we spent my birthday at his concert. We took our 4-year-old son with us and I have to say I actually enjoyed the show. I am more of a Country & Western and old time Rock type fan, but watching my wife enjoy his show was worth it. My wife plays his music through our piano and says "look, he's singing to me and I have my own private concert" constantly. I do have to say, I saw a side of him that night that really impressed me with his high energetic performance, his passion for his music, and his true love of his fans. I remember him saying "I know it's hard to be a Manillow fan but thanks for sticking it out..." Trying to book another concert as we are renewing our vows soon, so hopefully we may see him again! - Keith Dupre (Houma, Louisiana) (4/13/2012) Highlights: I'm Comin' Back / Ready To Take A Chance Again / Daybreak / Somewhere In The Night / This One's For You / Way Down Yonder in New Orleans / Keep Each Other Warm / Bandstand Boogie / Mandy / Even Now / A Very Strange Medley (I'm Stuck on Band-Aid, State Farm) / Could It Be Magic (Ballad) / It's A Miracle / Harmony / Every Single Day / New York City Rhythm / I Made It Through The Rain / Turn The Radio Up / Do You Know Who's Livin' Next Door / Come Monday / Talk To Me / Not What You See / They Dance + encore / Welcome Home / Weekend In New England / Copacabana (At The Copa) / I Write The Songs / We Live On Borrowed Time / One Voice (encore) [ Manilow TV Episode #148 aired April 2022 ] |

New York/ New York City (Radio City Music Hall) |
February 5: Barry was tremendous. What a handsome devil! The show was amazing. I don't think I will ever see a show that could compare. I was even lucky enough to sit next to a good-looking guy! - Lisa Palmieri (Staten Island, NY) (2/13/2002) February 6: I saw Barry at Radio City Music Hall. I could not believe he could possibly get any better than the last time I saw him. I have seen him everytime he has come to NY since he started back in "1821" as he says. This was by far the best show I have ever been to. I don't know if it was because I just love the new album or if it was Barry's gift to NY since the tragic 9/11, but I was never so moved by a concert in my life. I'm still singing! The joint was rocking. Everyone had a great time. I want Barry to know how much we all still love him and always will. He has touched so many lives over the years and he is just truly amazing. He gives his all at every show and everyone really appreciates it. I'm never disappointed. Thanks for so many wonderful years and for helping all of us through some hard times with your music and songs. - 'donbarb81' (2/13/2002) Favorite Show (February 8): What I liked about this concert was EVERYTHING! - Rita Lowe (Howell, NJ) (2/15/2002) Favorite Show (February 9): This concert meant the world to me because it was the first concert my husband and I have ever attended together. We are newlyweds! We had great seats and Barry is just unbelievable! He is so talented and his voice sounds better than ever! He makes you feel as though he is singing directly to you. He is special! [Barry and I are] both New Yorkers so we share a familiarity that goes without saying. Also, his heartfelt compassion for NYC and the September 11th tragedy was deeply expressed throughout the night. It was truly genuine! There is nothing pretentious about Barry Manilow. He is a great human being who never forgets where he came from. I think he is just a blessing to us all! Love ya, Barry!! - Monique Vetrano (Queens, NY) (5/1/2002) Favorite Show (February 9) - Laura Robertson (Rockwood, Ontario, Canada) (6/27/2002) February 6: This was a concert I'll never forget. I had front row seats. Barry came over and shook my hand and I have a picture of it (which I blew up to poster size!). I love the way Barry geared the show toward September 11th. I love you, Barry!! - Sue Johnson (Bloomingburg, NY) (8/2/2002) I have seen many concerts [over the past] 30 years, watching and enjoying Barry's musical genius. He just gets better and better! - Fran (of New York) (8/2/2002) First Show (February 6): Being a fan of Barry's from years and years ago, seeing him at Radio City brought back everything I've loved about him from when I was a teenager. - Carol Pope (Westbury, Long Island, New York) (8/5/2002) First Show (February 5): I had been a fan since Day One but never had gotten a chance to go to any concerts till this year. I got tickets for Radio City and was blown away by the man's energy and genuine love for his fans not to mention his talent! I was in love!! - Jan Mau (Upstate New York) (11/10/2002) Favorite Show - Julie Knopf (Howard Beach, NY) (12/15/2002) February 8-9: I love seeing Barry in New York City whenever I can, but these shows were extra special for me because I was there with my great new Barry friend (Geri Fanelli). We had been on-line friends for a few months, met in Penn Station, then went to see Barry at Radio City Music Hall. Barry was AMAZING as always. We had great seats (Thanks, BMIFC!). These were the first two shows I saw of the "Mayflower" Tour. Among my Top Faves were "Come Monday," "Let Freedom Ring," "Welcome Home," "Not What You See," and "They Dance!" [Geri and I] believe the birthplace of our local fan club (Barry's Northeast Connection BMFC) was in NYC because that is where we first met ...and the rest is Barry History! - Lisa Whitney (Keene, NH) (4/19/2003) I have loved Barry since I was 8 years old. Have all his music and have gone to all concerts that I am physically able to get to! The past 13 years I have been in and out of the hospitals for apituitary tumor, and things just got worse. Barrys music kept me going. I went with a good friend to the [Radio City] concert. I made a big poster [of] an American Flag [with his name] in bright blue and red glitter. I was hoping to be picked for "Can't Smile" and I actually saw him reading my poster, which made me feel great. [After the concert] I met some of the gospel choir and shook hands with one of the band members! I tell my family the day I pass on, ALL my Barry stuff comes with me! (If my will is not followed, I will haunt you all! Ha Ha!). Keep loving Barry!! - Susan Barrett (Shirley, NY) [What I liked about the concert was] seeing Barry Manilow and hearing his music live. We come from the same neighborhood! - Frances Ciemniecki (Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY) (10/20/2003) [What I loved about this show was] everything! Great tribute to the heroes of 9-11. - Frances (of New York City, NY) (1/26/2004) First Show - Kristy Hargett (Charlotte, NC) (11/2/2005) Barry's sport jackets are fabulous! His stage presence is captivating. His singing style is unique and incomparable. - Judith Liebman (of New York) (5/1/2007) February 7: Barry picked me to sing "Can't Smile Without You." Am I the only guy that has gone up to sing "Can't Smile Without You" with Barry!? As far as I know...yes. Love Barry and his music! - Alan Charles (of New York) (12/21/2009, 2/13/2012) February 8: My dad had died the previous year in February and I wanted to do something for my mother, something she would have to look forward to. I have always been a Barry fan but with kids, life, etc., I never had the chance to go see him. That night when we both the left the show, it was the first time in almost a year we felt happy and the feeling lasted through the next day, which if you've ever lost someone you really loved it's hard to smile. It was almost as if listening to the music I loved growing up to made the hurt a little less for both of us. Whenever we can we go to one of Barry's shows. Somebody once asked me, why do you go so much? And I said: because it makes me feel good and I smile. - Monika Simone (Wantage, New Jersey [Sussex County]) (9/12/2011) Opening Night at Radio City (Feb 5) [ WireImage.com Photos: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ] Proceeds from Feb. 5 concert benefitted Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund (New York Times, 11/4/2001) |

As a fellow Jewish kid from Brooklyn (Bensonhurst) and about the same age as Barry (mid 50's), I grew up with this music. My wife (Penney) likes the older, upbeat stuff. I can listen to everything. I really enjoy "Here at the Mayflower." Reminds me of New York. Thanks for the greatest sounds ever, keep it coming!! - Al Lipner (Kentwood, MI) (2/15/2002) Van Andel Arena News: Barry Manilow Live on Valentine's Day! |

February 15: This concert was great! The new set and lighting will just blow you away. The new songs from "Here at the Mayflower" and "Harmony" were wonderful, and will start climbing the charts, just like "Turn The Radio Up." Great beat, great music. - Kathy McNeil (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada) (2/17/2002) February 15: What I liked about this concert was that I sat right up front. I have never been so close to Barry as I was in Detroit. Another thing that made this a memorable experience is that I had the love of my life sitting with me at the concert. I am of the opinion that in order to really say that you have experienced a Barry Manilow concert, you must sit somewhere within the first 10 rows or so. It was like he was singing right to me! This was the best concert ever!! - Stacey Alters (of Michigan) (2/17/2002) February 16: I had hoped to hear the old favorites, but ended up LOVING the new stuff (Barry can't go wrong in my book)! Barry is such a wonderful entertainer and it's such a pleasure watching someone who so thoroughly enjoys what he's doing. Each concert is better than the last! - Kim Smith (Rochester Hills, MI) (2/17/2002, 5/16/2002) Barry is so much fun. I love his concerts. He is so personable and sweet, and so gifted. He really brightened my day. Thanks, Barry. Can't wait till you come again. You are the BEST! - Karen (of Lincoln Park, MI) (2/18/2002) February 16: The Concert was great! ["Keep Each Other Warm"] really touched my heart. - Rick (of Detroit, MI) (2/19/2002) February 16: What a show!! It was so awesome. We saw him Thursday (February 14th) and decided to go see him again. I've loved Barry for years (since 1974) and had to wait until 1997 to finally see him live and now I won't miss a chance at seeing him whenever I can. - Shelby Jernberg (Lowell, MI) (2/20/2002) February 15: It was the first concert I ever went to. I LOVED IT. Barry sounds better in person. It was the best. Loved the new music. The old songs were wonderful to hear. When he sang "Talk To Me" he had me crying. "I'm Coming Back" was great too. I just can't say enough about the show. Love Ya, Barry! - Betty Egnash (of Michigan) (3/18/2002) What I loved about this concert is that this is the first time I have ever been close to the stage! I have not missed a concert since I was 12! I have slept overnight at Pine Knob to get tickets, never to get closer than about 26 rows, but this time, I was in the Orchestra Pit, Row 5, Center. It was worth the wait! I can't say enough about Barry Manilow as a songwriter, singer, performer, etc. In fact, Mr. Manilow, you're getting better with age! Beyond Row 5 from now on just won't be the same. Thank you for years of wonderful entertainment! - Laurie K. (of Michigan) (10/21/2002) February 16: It was my first concert, so the night was such a revelation. Pure magic for me! I don't think I will ever be able to listen to any of his music the same way again. I will always remember "I Write the Songs." When he said "sing," I just couldn't resist! I enjoyed backing up my musical hero. - Julie (of Marshall, MI) (6/2/2003) February 15: My best friend at the time took me to see Barry at the Fox as a birthday gift. We sat in the 4th row, center. Barry seemed to be looking at me throughout the concert. At first I thought it was just me that thought this, but everyone around me started to ask me if Barry knew me. Normally he has someone come up on stage to sing with him, but not this night. I was the only one who took something up to him on stage and he seemed to think that was nice. He brought out a small piano and set it right there in front of me and sang to me, looking at me when he sang. It was the best concert I ever went to! I will always remember how he looked at me and I will keep that memory in a very special place in my heart, forever. - Patricia Nieman (Detroit, MI) (8/31/2009) "Interpreters will help deaf enjoy performances": Fox Theatre to have interpreter at Barry Manilow's Live 2002! concert 8 p.m. Feb. 15 (Detroit News Online, 2/1/2002) |

February 21: The whole concert was excellent. The new songs were great and his band was wonderful. The only thing missing was the "Can't Smile Without You" segment. - Natalie (of Connecticut) (2/25/2002) February 21: The thrill of going to my first Barry Manilow concert overwhelmed me. The night before, I was making my sign in hopes of being picked for the "Can't Smile Without You" song. I was listening to his album at the time. My "Barry, I'm Kooky 4 u" sign was going to get me on stage along with my glow sticks and party horns (which I pased out to the women around me). I was crying the night before and when he came on stage -- Oh my God -- I lost it! I couldn't stop crying!! The women around me were holding my hands. It was my first show, not theirs, but they understood my emotions. Barry Manilow stole my heart! His performance was better than I imagined. The sound, the stage, the piano, and the voice (Oh, the voice!). I cried to every old song except "Bandstand Boogie" and "Copacabana," which made me get up and dance (Some lady told me to sit down... Get outta here! I wasn't even sitting in front of her!!). Barry's new songs are going to replace the old ones for a while... Love them!! He never sang 'Can't Smile Without You'. Well, that's it... Gonna go to more shows. I'm hooked! Thanks again for the good times!! - Louisa Tiberi (of Connecticut) (4/8/2002) Favorite Show (February 22): It was the best! I was in the front row and he actually picked me to get up and dance to "Bandstand Boogie" with him!! I also have some AWESOME pictures of him because the Oakdale allowed cameras. I'll never forget that night. Planning on seeing him again this summer in New Haven, CT. - Sally (of Cheshire, CT) (4/25/2002) Favorite Show (February 21): What I liked about this show was EVERYTHING! Barry is wonderful!! I hope he is around for many many more years!!! His music is soothing, fun, and inspirational. - Karen Elimelech (Woodbridge, CT) (5/3/2002) Barry was on stage for 2-1/2 hours (with a very short intermission) and his enery level was up for the whole show. He was very relaxed (as usual) and the audience really got into it. He also gave us a good mix of his past hits and his present ones. - Terri Sansone (West Haven, CT) (11/5/2002) Everything was fantastic! My wife and I love you and your music. Barry, when you come back to New Haven, please drop us a line! The firefighters and their wives would love to meet you (Engine #9 And Rescue Squad #2). I am the cook in my engine company. I have been a fan since your first recording. Your presence would really boost our morale after all we deal with day in and day out, but we all love what we do!! - Firefighter/EMT Salvatore A. What can I say, except I have been waiting since I was a small child to see this man sing. Barry is a fantastic showman and quite a human being. Thanks for making a dream a reality for me, Mr. Manilow. As a child ... I clung onto his songs to get me through a frightening time. Last night I was able to sit, without fear, and listen to the songs that gave me hope in the beginning. I thank you, Barry, from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to see you in person and hear your music. - Elizabeth Joyce (Manchester, NH) (2/24/2002) I loved everything about the concert. Barry was superb. The set was dazzling and the music was fantastic. I screamed for the entire two-hour show! He is so handsome and sounds the same now as he did thirty years ago when I fell in love with him, his music and his voice. Barry, you promised to return to NH - I will be waiting and will bring more friends with me! - Christine O'Connell (Merrimack, NH) (2/25/2002) What I liked about this concert was Everything. I have been a fan for almost 30 years, and this was the first time I saw him in concert. I MUST see him again. He was amazing. First time in NH. He said he'd be back because we obviously love him!! - Nikki (of New Hampshire) (2/25/2002) What I liked about this show was absolutely everything! I wanted to be the one to dance and sing with him though!! I've been his most loyal fan since the first grade. Now I'm 29 years old. Can't wait till he comes back to NH. After all he said he would be back, and I know he wont let me/us down! I just cant smile without him!! - Colleen Cavanah (Manchester, NH) (2/25/2002) Loved the entertainment and the finale was great! I loved hearing and knowing all the old songs! - Sue (of Manchester, NH) (2/26/2002) Loved the songs from the new album, Here at the Mayflower. - Diane Glines (Manchester, NH) (2/26/2002) I sat and listened to Barry's music and it touched me in a whole new way [than it did in 1978 when I was a star-struck 14-year-old], almost to the point of tears (my friend, whose husband has been called to Active Duty as a result of 9/11, sobbed thru the whole thing). What an extraordinary man, to be able to not only write the music that he does (my friend and I speculated at length as to whether he could possibly be that romantic and sensitive in his own life, which of course elicited a chorus of sighs!) and to bring the feeling that he does to others' arrangements. I have a whole new appreciation for his music at this point in my life and have found myself on more than one occasion over the last week, cruising the aisles of my local music store, picking up not only his newest albums, but a sampling of some of his older compilations that came out after my last record purchase of "Even Now." I have even dusted off my old LPs and fired up my long silent turntable. I'm star struck once again by this man, but now, with the appreciation of an adult who has experienced the highs and lows of being in love and can relate to the feelings about which this man sings. - Laura Browning (Manchester, NH) (3/1/2002) I have waited since 1974 to see Barry. I love everything about the Manilow concert; he soothes my heart, and his music always makes me want to 'get up and boogie.' We all want you to return as often as you can. New Hampshire LOVES you, Barry! - Bonnie Doeringsfeld (Concord, NH) (3/24/2002) This was Barry's FIRST EVER show in New Hampshire, and my mom and I were in the second row! We were so close to Barry, in the Center, and the NH crowd was VERY happy and excited to see Barry Live. Barry got a roaring standing ovation after every song he did for us that night. I hope Barry will come back to do more shows here. Barry was in red hot form that night. I will never forget it! Thanks, Barry!! - Lisa Whitney (Keene, NH) (2/13/2003) [I loved] Barry's new songs and the wiggling of his hips when he's singing "Somewhere In The Night"! Actually I love all of his concerts. He is my favorite singer of all time. It just drives me crazy seeing him move his hips the way he does! - Jackie Patterson (of Massachusetts) (9/25/2003) I have been a Barry Manilow fan for 30 years. I have been waiting for him to come back to Manchester for two years. My daughter (Kaye) and her friend (Katrina) gave us the tickets for our anniversary. It was fantastic! Kaye is 6-ft. tall and was standing on the seat so she could see Barry better! We were in the 10th row center stage. We play [the CBS Ultimate Manilow! tape] once a week. I love the songs from the "Mayflower" album. Please come back to Manchester again real soon. - Tom Pickford (Berlin, NH) (9/10/2004) First Show - Barbara Kearney (Manchester, NH) (5/25/2007) Everything about the concert was outstanding. Barry had no opening act so it was just Barry on the stage. A truly marvelous evening. - Patricia Gorman (Nashua, NH) (4/1/2008) First Show: I have been a Barry fan since the early '70s but never got to see him Live until my family had a party for our 28th Wedding Anniversary and my present was a ticket to see Barry! I went to the show and never experienced such a wonderful time! I was floating on air for weeks to follow! - Kathleen Arsenault (Franklin, NH) (12/9/2010) First Show - Kathy Carlson-Penley (of New Hampshire) (1/14/2011) |

[ Sovereign Center Photo Gallery ] What an experience! This is the ninth time I have seen Barry in concert, but I think this tour is somewhat different from the rest. Barry's concert was a mixture of some of his classics like "I Made It Through The Rain," "Can't Smile," "Weekend in New England," "I Write the Songs," "Copacabana," and "Daybreak," plus he sang a lot of the tunes that are on his "Here at the Mayflower" CD. This concert was totally awesome. I loved it when Barry came out dressed like an old man and sang the song "Not What You See." Also, loved the patriotic ending to the concert when he sang "Let Freedom Ring" with the choir, the large flag that came down, and the red, white & blue streamers that popped out. His singing "It's a Miracle" was the perfect ending to the concert. I will definitely go to more of Barry's concerts whenever he is in our area. My goal is to see him 20 times!! - Kathy Snavely (Cornwall, PA) (2/25/2002)I have been to six of Barry's concerts and have enjoyed each one more than I could ever tell you. It is difficult to please the people around here but, I have never heard so much talk about the wonderful concert Barry did in Reading. And a first for here: I heard NO negative comments! I can only hope Barry was sincere and will be coming back to Reading. He is a wonderful performer with songs that I could listen to all night. Thanks for another wonderful concert. - Judy Donahue (Reading, PA) (2/28/2002) What I liked about this show was everything! Barry Manilow is the only singer who actually makes the songs enjoyable to listen to. A great entertainer - Barry is awesome! He is the best singer and has the sexiest voice! Been listening to him since I was a child in the 70's. Can't wait till he's back in the area again. I'll be there for sure! Thanks for all the great years, Barry!! - Lisa Blew (Tuscarora, PA) (3/1/2002, 3/19/2002) This is the best Barry concert so far. Each one is better than the last. His shows are so energetic and upbeat and so much fun. The old songs were so familiar, we remembered every word, and since I got the Mayflower album for Christmas, I knew some of the new songs, too. I can't wait to see Harmony and for more new music from my favorite performer. I, too, was "only 14" the last time Barry was in Reading. I'll go to his concerts whenever I can, but he promised to come back to Reading soon, and we're holdin' him to it!! - Darlene (of Reading, PA) (3/27/2002) I love Barry's music and enjoyed his concert so much. My husband also is a Barry fan so we just loved it and will attend other concerts. His Mayflower CD is my husband's favorite and I look forward to Harmony. - Donna Cline (Reading, PA) (5/3/2002) |

Minnesota/Minneapolis (Orpheum Theatre) |
I haven't had the chance to see Barry for almost five years and these two wonderful concerts brought back all the "magic" for me. Barry is THE consumate performer and showman. The two numbers that stood out for me were the title song from "Harmony" and "They Dance!" Barry's fellow musicians on stage also blew me away! I hope that Barry will visit the Twin Cities more often! We have missed you! Hey Barry, the Orpheum Theatre would be a great place to debut "Harmony"!! - Aline Nagler (St. Paul, MN) (3/7/2002) I loved the concerts! The video screen helped. I worked as an usher and got to see both shows. Barry was truly glad to be performing, and was happy people were enjoying his music... old and new! Brought back memories of 1976 - 27 years ago! I hope he comes back to Minneapolis and the Orpheum Theatre!! - Janet Yackle (St. Louis Park, MN) (3/7/2002) March 1: This is the third concert I've been to and I've loved them all. What made this one very special is that I had my husband and my two daughters with me. I had been "warning" them for the past three years that the next time Barry toured, we would all be going to see him. I told them that he was the type of performer who really gave to the audience and that a person couldn't help but feel great when they've seen him perform. I also felt that this is a part of what makes me who I am. They know how I've enjoyed his music and know alot of it from hearing it around my home and in the car ... Barry hit the nail on the head when he talked about those who "got dragged" to see him. He did such a wonderful job and can still sing beautifully. Poor guy even had a cold, but he hardly took a break and joked about his nose, too. By the end of the evening, my family had a new respect for Barry ... I just felt it was important for my family to come with me to one of his concerts during my lifetime so they understood what it is I appreciate about Barry, and so that they would see a first-rate entertainer. I felt ecstatic the whole evening and the next few days. He's a great person and I wish him the best always because he deserves it. - Cres Schramm (of Minnesota) (4/21/2002) First Show - Dan Barnes (Plymouth, IA) (10/7/2002) February 28: We were in the seventh row from the stage, right in front of Barry's piano. He is really a funny guy. Kept us laughing. He is such a wonderful performer and his concert was the best one I have ever seen. His voice just blows me away. He is very talented. I absolutely love Barry Manilow! - Robin Skluzacek (Pine City, MN) (7/28/2003) First Show - Lynne Ritz (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) (7/7/2011) Highlights (February 28): I'm Comin' Back / Ready To Take A Chance Again / Daybreak /Somewhere In The Night / Looks Like We Made It / Bandstand Boogie / Mandy / Even Now / Could It Be Magic / Harmony / Every Single Day / New York City Rhythm / I Made It Through The Rain / Turn The Radio Up / Do You Know Who's Livin' Next Door / Come Monday / Talk To Me / Not What You See / They Dance + Encore / Welcome Home / Weekend In New England / Copacabana (At The Copa) / I Write The Songs / Let Freedom Ring + Encore / It's A Miracle / (Encore) One Voice [ Manilow Archives Episode #44 (February 28th show) aired June 2013 ] |

March 2: Barry was Simply Amazing! This was my 3rd Manilow concert and they just keep getting better and better! I especially liked his encore of "Let Freedom Ring" with the singers and the giant flag - What an awesome tribute to the great country we live in! - Dawn Schwartz (Green Bay, WI) (3/4/2002) March 3: I felt like it was 20 or so years ago, when I first became a fan of Barry's. Very moving experience. I felt like a young gal experiencing "Manilow-mania" all over again! - Julie Brookhiser (of Southcentral Wisconsin) (3/5/2002) First Show (March 2): It was a terrific concert and Barry was great with the audience. Everyone traveled in a snowstorm to get there. A GREAT performer! - Kay Verrette (Kingsford, MI) (10/1/2003) I always love Barry's concerts, all of them! But, in Milwaukee -- and I drove there in a snowstorm that relatives still remind me about -- it was cozy and intimate because it was a smaller theatre ... He's just awesome, absolutely awesome and he's NEVER disappointed me! Someday, I hope I can see him in Las Vegas. Dreams can come true you know! - Deb McCormick (Grayslake, IL) (10/14/2006) |

I have been to many of Barry's concerts and they were all wonderful. "Let Freedom Ring" was fantastic. I very much enjoyed his old songs and the songs from "Harmony" (Can't wait to see it!). - Marilyn Barnes (Cortland, NY) (3/10/2002) There was NOTHING not to like - or I should say LOVE - about the show! I saw Barry when I was a kid about 8 or 9 years old with my parents in Buffalo, NY, and I was planning a trip for my nephew's birthday back in Arcade, NY (south of Buffalo), when I saw a commercial for one of Barry's older CD's. Then when I was online, I checked out his tour schedule and discovered that he was playing in Elmira the day that I was supposed to leave Michigan. So I decided to leave a day earlier and surprise my mom with tickets to the concert. It was a two-and-a-half hour drive to Elmira but worth every second. We had seats on the floor six rows back. I wanted to get up on that stage with him so bad I could taste it! The whole weekend I was on cloud nine! I remembered the great time that I had in Buffalo when he played "Mandy" (my favorite song). Seeing him now as an adult, I was in heaven. I never knew that it would be so great! I plan on watching the tour schedule and seeing him as often as I can. I wont rest until I get up on that stage and sing "Cant Smile Without You," so Barry if you read this, look for me. I'll be the lady with the "Proud Wife of a United States Marine" sign. I love you and your music. Keep singing! Semper Fi! - Donna L. Crosby (Climax, MI) (3/12/2002) Favorite Show - Reasons: 1. My daughter loved the show (age 17); 2. My husband loved the show; 3. The show was excellently put together, sound was great; 4. Barry is an excellent entertainer. It was far better than the other concerts that I've been to. - Pam Cicconi (Odessa, NY) (5/11/2002) It was the best concert that I have ever been to, wonderful and entertaining. Barry is so personable [and] friendly. A lot of entertainers are not into the people who come to see them; they just do their thing. I really enjoy Barry's concerts. I have his CDs and bring them to work with me to listen to. - Marijo Sanford (Liverpool, NY) (7/15/2002) I got onstage with Barry for "Can't Smile" (which I NEVER EVER thought I'd have the nerve to do) and although I had MAJOR stage fright, Barry made it much easier for me to get through and forget the whole audience. I also made him laugh, which was fun for everyone! Before that night, I had had a dream about the Can't Smile sign I made the night before...plus, my mother had died in 1979 from cancer. Before I went to buy the tickets, I went to her grave and told her that if there was ever "proof" of an after-life, she could get me onstage with Barry as our 'connection'. Well, she did and I was never so shocked and yet awed by the gift she gave me. I now know she is always there watching over me. - Cheryl Sanders (Charleston, SC) (11/26/2010) |

March 9: What I liked about this show was EVERYTHING! I have been a huge fan since the 70's and have attended many of his concerts. They have all been fantastic. This one in particular made me feel so good and so proud to be an American. The part of his concert with "Let Freedom Ring," The Flag, "My Country Tis of Thee" and the choir was fabulous. There couldn't have been a dry eye in the place. I am still feeling the marvelous effects of his concert (a day later). You come out feeling so happy, words cannot describe it. All of his songs have personal meanings to me as I love all of them. His energy never stops. He mentioned New Yorkers as being Energizer Bunnies. I disagree.... Barry IS the Energizer Bunny. He is fabulous! - Gayle Rosiek (Mentor, OH) (3/10/2002) NOTE: "Let Freedom Ring" is available on Barry's boxed set THE COMPLETE COLLECTION AND THEN SOME... March 9: Barry was awesome!! He danced and sang amazingly. The day had been really windy and you could tell that everyone there had been having a rough day; Barry just made everyone feel great. He didn't sing "Can't Smile Without You" but he did his Super Bowl performance and it was off the wall!! - Cari Crumbaker (Parkersburg, WV) (3/10/2002) March 8: What I liked about this show was EVERYTHING!! It was truly awesome. Barry gave it his all (as usual), and we were ecstatic! My brother & sister-in-law saw him live that night for the first time, and they were totally blown away. The man truly loves his music, and sharing that love with us. It's now Tuesday, and I am still in awe of that performance. I still remember where and when I first heard "Mandy" - in my 7th grade art room. It's 28 years later, I'm still hooked, and proud of it! Thank you, Barry, for sharing your gift, and yourself, with all of us, All The Time. - Lori Wharton (Columbus, OH) (3/12/2002) First Show (March 9): [What I liked about the concert was Barry's] singing voice. Fabulous! One of a kind. He sounds almost exactly like his recordings from the 1970s. Wonderful talent. - Tim Browning (Cleveland, OH) (3/13/2002) Barry was great, and for the first time I was close enough to see him! I just love him, and his music is so wonderful. I liked his interaction with the fans and his arrangement of songs. I enjoyed the song about the old couple ("Not What You See") where Barry puts on a hat and scarf. That song was just beautiful. - Jan Novak (Cleveland, OH) (5/1/2002) Barry was in an intimate setting of an old playhouse theatre. I was home in Cleveland for the first time in 32 years. The show was so personal! I'm coming back, and Cleveland, I sure did! Welcome home... Thank you, Barry, for making my welcome home to Cleveland so special with the Mayflower songs. I have loved you for so long and I have seen so many shows in so many cities. My family reunion in Cleveland wouldn't have been the same without you! Glad you were there!! - Robin Sereghy (Las Vegas, CA) (7/3/2002) First/Favorite Show: I'm 30 years old and Barry's the best recording artist in history in my book!! - Kimber Kenepp (Cuyahoga Falls, OH) (9/27/2002) Seeing Barry at the State Theater during his Live2002! Tour was my very first time seeing Barry live in concert (March 8) and I fell head-over-heels in love with him when he did the skit about Joe and Esther from his Mayflower album... I thought he looked SO CUTE playing the old man, Joe, and the song itself moved me very much. It struck a kindred chord in me. I was so taken with Barry I just HAD to [see him again]! The next night (March 9) I drove through high winds on the interstate to get to the concert with no guarantee I'd even get a ticket. When I finally got there the show was sold out. I almost gave up and went home except, as luck would have it, someone was ACTUALLY SELLING a ticket to the show (which I bought gladly) and got even better (closer) seating than I had the first night. I was thrilled! I adored Barry AGAIN the second night, and have now joined the ranks of all his millions of fans internationally and am waiting with baited breath until he comes back in concert again. Neither snow, nor rain, nor dead of night, etc., will keep me from ANY other concert tours he goes on. I'm really getting daring and intrepid now and Barry is my inspiration! I hope "Harmony" is a hit and I intend to see it on Broadway next year. Break a leg, Barry! - Kathryn Joan Vonleyser (Brunswick, OH) (12/22/2002) Always get great seats due to the fan club! Every concert in its entirety is awesome!! - Tina Lyon (of New York) (3/27/2003) Favorite Show (March 8) - Diane Frazier (Twinsburg, OH) (4/1/2003) I loved the concert. Travelled all the way from Bloomfield (New York) to attend these two shows. Cleveland was such a friendly place to be. Sat in the third row and all the Manilow fans were so nice. Before the show we exchanged stories and memories. I would certainly would go back to Cleveland! Barry's performance was nothing less than stellar. He tirelessly gave us his all both nights. Loved hearing "Talk to Me." That song is so right (good advice!). Had to brave a snow storm on the way home on the interstate but it was all worth it (Just wondering why Barry performs the Northeast during the worst part of the year!). Looking forward to the next shows wherever they may be!! - Darlene Corio (Bloomfield, NY) (7/6/2003) March 9: As this was my first time seeing Barry on tour and my concert ticket was a birthday gift from my boss, a fabulous time was to be had. The driving conditions were dreadful (40+ mph winds and driving snow) and my dear husband was white-knuckled the entire drive to and from Cleveland (It was three hours round trip). Barry was in rare form and the crowd was responsive to that. All in all it was "harmony, unforgettable harmony" and I will most definitely "see the show again." Thank you, Barry. - Norah S. I have been a Manilow fan since "Mandy." Richmond was my first concert. Barry is better than ever! He sings great, and continues to entertain and wow the audience. I will be in New York WHEN "Harmony" opens. Looks Like HE Made It! - Kim R. Weller (Staunton, VA) (3/11/2002) It was the most awesome concert I have attended in some time. Barry was in great form. He looked terrific and his voice was fantastic. I've always liked his music, but had never seen him "Live in Concert." He keeps you entertained the entire show. I didn't want to see it end! Can't wait to see him again. - Donna Harrison (Colonial Heights, VA) (3/22/2002) I have loved Barry's music since "Mandy." His concert at the Landmark was more than just performing songs - he interacted with his audience and it felt like he was talking to us. Someone in the audience proposed to his girlfriend in front of everyone and Barry made it special for them and sang a song. Of course his girlfriend said "yes"! Barry's music evokes a lot of emotions. I think that is one of his special talents. I am working on going to another concert soon, even though it will mean traveling out of town. It is worth it! - Sandy (of Richmond, VA) (4/13/2002) First Show - Jerry Helton (of Virginia) (11/30/2002) This was my tenth concert of Barry's but the first for my then 10 year old daughter, Ashlee. She inherited her mother's taste in music and absolutely loved this concert. Being inside the old "Mosque", as we true Richmonders will always call it, with Barry and his music was magical! What an awesome musician! - Teresa (of Richmond, VA) (2/24/2005) Favorite Show: Mayflower Tour in Richmond, Virginia! - Rosie B. (Richmond, Virginia) (2/26/2013) |

This was the first time I saw Barry in person. His show was wonderful! If he ever comes back, I will be there. I have been a fan of his since I was 16. I am now 46. After his show I now love him even more. He's the best. His singing and music is the best. Love his new songs. - Linda Widener (Parkton, MD) (3/20/2002) From the first time I heard a Barry Manilow song I knew that this was an artist whose music would be a life-long companion. Barry is one of those rare performers who is able to connect with his audience and share experiences, misery, hope, joy, and happiness. In concert, he tells the audience that he's received tons of letters from us, thanking him for the difficult times that his music has helped us get through. I think that's the most touching part of his concerts, because Barry also has been through some difficult times and doesn't detach himself from that, but rather, relates that to his fans. He doesn't concern himself with the possibility that his vulnerability will detract from his "star status." That's what makes his concert so special, no matter where it is: he's a great musician and he's a terrific performer, but he's a real human being. He makes you feel good, and he touches your soul. - Judy Lowstuter (Annandale, VA) (4/28/2002) [ Concert postponed from December 11, 2000 ] |

Delaware/Newark (University of Delaware, Bob Carpenter Center) |
After many, many years of loving Barry's music and seeing him several times in concert, he finally performed my favorite song... "I Made It Through The Rain." It was worth the years of waiting! He still performs like there is nowhere else he would rather be than on stage entertaining his fans, both old and new. I love his enthusiasm and what his music has meant to me throughout my life. Thanks, Barry, for some very sweet memories! - Dawn Nixon (Marlton, NJ) (3/18/2002) I have attended three concerts and I am always mesmerized by Barry. At Bob Carpenter Center, it was a gloomy night with rain but once the show started everyone forgot the rain and was entranced with Barry's singing. - Hannah Mauss (Frederick, MD) (3/23/2002) Everything was professional. My daughter and I saw Barry together for the first time as she went to college there. We had a great time! I think the one thing that will always remember about the concert was the bad weather and when you did the skit about the man and women and she was in a wheelchair ("Not What You See"). That had a lot of meaning... - Louise Jackson (Norristown, PA) (1/7/2003) Although this was my second concert, it was the first one out-of-town. It was also part of a long weekend birthday celebration and something that I will always remember as being very special. - Vicki Wallace (Alexandria, VA) (1/24/2004) This is a night and concert that I will never forget. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought my husband and I would be going backstage to meet Barry that night. Barry was so nice asking my husband how he felt after getting a kidney transplant. We stood around and spoke for a short time and then it was time for Barry to start the concert. One thing my husband will never let me live down is when I flew into Barry's arms. It was just an incredible evening. Thanks Barry! - Debbie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA) (8/23/2004) |

Pennsylvania/Wilkes-Barre (First Union Arena at Casey Plaza) |
Wow, is all I can say! I have waited since I was nine years old to see Barry. He was full of energy, witty, and he sounds even better in person. [The night] is not one that I or my 11-year-old son will forget. The man next to me was in tears. The woman next to my son was screaming like a teenager. Barry touches so many lives in so many different ways. Thank you, Barry! - Pam Murphy (Jordan, NY) (3/19/2002) What can I say? The man is unbelieveable. What a gift Barry has! You can obviously see that he just loves making music for everyone. For those who have never seen him in concert, you are missing a true first-class entertainer. He was just fantastic!! - Sherri (of Pennsylvania) (3/20/2002) Barry is the GREATEST and he is sincere to his fans. I love him! What a showman. Great voice and a great guy... Terrific show! - Rosemary Smith (Fenwick Island, DE) (3/31/2002) I have loved Barry Manilow's music since I was old enough to understand music. I had always wanted to see him in concert, but was never able to. Now that I relocated to Pennsylvania, I was fortunate enough to see him at the First Union Arena! I was amazed at his brilliance. There is nothing like seeing Barry Manilow perform live! I didn't realize that I knew so many of his songs. I enjoyed his concert so much, I can't wait until he comes back. I was in a lousy mood before I departed for the concert. As soon as he started to sing, my tears fell and I felt so much better. I had strength to deal my situation after seeing his concert. He is absolutely inspirational! - Cathy Z. (Wilkes-Barre, PA) (5/18/2002) My mom is a big fan and after seeing Barry, I am too! He is absolutely great. I never expected to see a show so full of energy and excitement. He truly knows how to thrill an audience. We WILL see him again! Thanks Barry!! - Dylan Shirk (Denver, PA) (5/18/2002) First/Favorite Show - Selma (of Wilkes-Barre, PA) (9/18/2002) First Show - Nancy James (Effort, PA) (4/18/2009) |

March 23: Barry is an amazing man who writes songs that pull at your heartstrings. I'm 25 years old and have loved him since I was five. This show was - as expected - Fantastic!! He's in his fifties and he is absolutely gorgeous. Everytime I thought that he couldn't get better, [well] that night he amazed me with another great song. His new stuff, his old classics... I love them all! He is a genius - I LOVE YOU BARRY!! - Jennifer Shea (Cranston, RI) (3/26/2002) March 23: Fourth time I've seen "him" there and I love the smaller theater! Wonderful evening! March 30: Barry's voice is mellow-er and more controlled; he sounds better than ever! I was amazed - although I shouldn't be - by his incredible non-stop two hours, giving fans another night to remember! Barry and his music are definitely needed and appreciated now more than ever before. - Theodora Tonkinson (of Edwardsville) (3/31/2002) March 29: It had been two years since my mom and I saw Barry Manilow in KC. When we found out he was coming again to the Show-Me State in St. Louis, we didn't hesitate to get tickets. Barry's voice is outstanding and the sound was incredible. I got goosebumps during his performance and it wasn't from being cold! He is such an entertainer and really played to the crowd. He had a fabulous stage and it was one of the BEST concerts I had been to. Now he is coming to KC in June and you can bet my Mom and I will be there! - Kelly Heinen (of Kansas City) (4/8/2002) Barry is so personable with the audience and so down-to-earth. It's like he could just sit down in your living room and talk to YOU and SING to YOU. I could listen to him for hours! - Ginny (of St. Louis, MO) (4/17/2002) March 30: Barry's energy is just amazing! This is the third show I have been to and I am preparing to go to my fourth in Indianapolis. I can't wait! - Lindsay Leonard (Jacksonville, IL) (4/22/2002) March 30: This was my first time ever seeing anyone in concert. My mom and dad brought me as a surprise to celebrate my golden birthday (I turned 11 on April 11). I made a sign for Barry to see that said "YOU HELPED ME BE #1" because I got 1st place in my school's academic meet and used "Riders To The Stars" as my theme song for the meet. My favorite part of the show was when, during "I Write The Songs," my mom walked me down to the stage -- right up front! My mom let me put my sign up on the stage floor by the microphone and I put a red rose on the sign. When Barry got up to finish the song, HE READ MY SIGN! I could see that he really appreciated it. People in the front row tried to get him to see that it was me who put the sign up there, but I was too short! Anyway, I'll never forget how much it meant to me that he read it. Thank you, Barry!! - Corrinne (of Gary, IN) (6/11/2002) First Show (March 29) - Ashley Wedding (Owensboro, KY) (7/16/2002) March 30: I am a volunteer usher at "The Fabulous Fox" where I signed up just so I could see Barry in concert -- FREE. Anyway, I was at the stage door exit inside reading the graffiti performers had written about appearing at the Fox when the side door opened and Barry walked in! We were two feet apart and I desperately wanted to say something cool. BUT... "Hello Mr. Manilow, how are you?" was all that came out of my mouth. He looked at me... "Fine, how are you?" then turned and went backstage to get ready for the concert in an hour and a half. I ran down to the employee breakroom to call my husband, best friend, and anybody else who would listen but no one was home! The messages I left on the recorders showed how excited I was though. I went on to see the concert from the side aisle and swore he looked right at me and smiled! - Joan (of St. Louis, MO) (1/4/2003) March 30: I have been fortunate to attend four of Barry's concerts. I consider this one to be the best because I was finally able to see Barry in concert with my high school sweetheart. We were almost sweethearts back in high school but he chose someone else and ended up marrying her... BUT... NEVER forgot about me (He knew then that I was the one he should have married)! Even though I got married to someone else too, I never stopped thinking of him either. After having not seen each other since graduating in 1982, we ran into each other in a local grocery store in 1994. To make a long story short, we were married in November 1996. Oh, he also likes Barry's music too (Of Course!). I think he even resembles Barry a little! We both had a GREAT time at the concert and I will never forget it. I was able to be in the same room with both of my most favorite guys in the world at the same time! - Anita R. Huskey (East Carondelet, IL) (1/20/2003) Barry seems to have a real association with folks from St. Louis. I have seen him in several cities, but St. Louis has a special something ... The ladies do love the show and I see a third generation of fans relating to the music. How can such a talented man now touch your heart with the songs he sings? Can he be... Magic?! - Debbie (of Belleville, IL) (8/29/2004) The chance to see Barry in concert in 2002 helped bring me out of my agoraphobic shell. I had to drive 3+ hours each way, each night to see him, and although I was scared out of my wits to be in such crowds, it was so very worth it! - Martha Nearns (of Arizona) (4/11/2012) [ metrotix.com - Barry Manilow ] |

First Show (March 31): I enjoyed the energy that Barry puts into his shows. I love the new CD Here At The Mayflower. He knows just how to get you going. His musical timing is fantastic. He knows when to sing the ballads and when to get you moving to the music. I really enjoyed his whole performance and am looking forward to attending more of his concerts. My husband was impressed too. He really enjoyed himself as I knew he would. Keep it up Barry!! You're Fantastic and I have enjoyed you from the very first time I heard your music in the early '70's. A fan for life! - Kim Brewer (Mabelvale, AR) (4/12/2002) Favorite Show - John Rainwater (Memphis, Tennessee) (10/28/2011) |

Ohio/Cincinnati (Procter And Gamble Hall at Aronoff Center for the Arts) |
The concert in Cincinnati was the most favorite for me. I've been to over 20 shows and he just gets better every time. Can't imagine getting to 'sing' on stage with him... what an experience that'd be! Dream is to see him at Radio City Music Hall (someday). - Laura W. (4/8/2002) April 6: It was the best concert I have ever been too!!!!! - Jennifer Hoover (West Lafayette, IN) (4/9/2002) I'll always love Barry's old hits, but I love what he did from his new album "Here at the Mayflower." His current songs are very moving. I fell in love with him all over again at this concert. I can't believe what he does to me. - Karen Siciliano (Cincinnati, OH) (4/11/2002) April 5: [This was my] 20th Barry Manilow concert. As usual it was the greatest show. Barry's concerts are always the [most entertaining] of any singer/songwriter. He sings the old and the new; he talks to the audience; he has personality, style and class and especially talent all rolled into one great show. He is the best entertainer I have ever seen. I NEVER miss a concert when he is in Cincinnati. - Terri Schenk (Cold Spring, KY) (4/11/2002) First Show (April 6): I took my wife (Jennifer) to see Barry as a birthday surprise. She didn't know what we were doing until we arrived at the Aronoff Center! We both loved the show. - Bob (and Jen) Schroeder (Richmond, IN) (4/14/2002) April 6: Have been to every Cincinnati Manilow concert. I had the best seats ever: second row center. Can't describe how much love and respect I feel for Barry even after 28 years! He sings right to my soul and touches every nerve in my heart. His honesty and talent continue to shine -- I love every song! Yes, Barry, in Cincinnati we do "get it" and we want it filling our ears and hearts for as long as possible! Keep doing what you feel. We're always gonna listen! - Connie (of Cincinnati, OH) (5/14/2002) April 6: My identical twin sister and I attended the Barry Manilow concert. We have both been fans since we were teenagers in the early 80's and we've been to three concerts together. This year's concert seemed to be more exciting, and I loved hearing all his greatest hits! The concert was held in a smaller music hall in downtown Cincinnati, so everyone had good seats. It seemed as though he was standing right in front of me, singing to me personally! I could tell that everyone around me had that same feeling. - Lora Bentley (Cincinnati, OH) (5/23/2002) My favorite thing about the concert was Barry! His energy and music were outstanding. Barry is a class act. I liked the way he interacted with his audience and made them part of the show, especially when one lady got to sing with him (even though I was disappointed it wasn't me... I could've fulfilled a life-long dream!). I teach elementary school and play much of Barry's music when we're working or in center time. It is so funny to see the kids singing along after they've heard his music a while. When I forget to put the CD on as they arrive to class, they ask, "Where's Barry?" It's even funnier to see adults pop their heads in and starts singing and dancing. It makes the kids (and me) laugh as we have a break from our work. I even did my last research paper on Barry Manilow in my last class to receive my Rank I degree (in a music history class!). The funniest part of the concert was when my sister got out her lighter during "One Voice"! We laughed and talked about the old times of our childhood on the way home! Barry brings so much delight to many people. What a gift from God. - Angie Berryman (Versailles, KY) (8/18/2002) First Show (April 5): My girlfriend (Mandi) and I met in January and she got me listening to Barry. I never thought I'd enjoy the concert as much as I did. I have to say Barry's music and that concert did a lot for our relationship. I will continue to enjoy his music and hope to see him again in the future! - Bobby Cline (Sabina, OH) (12/10/2002) Barry's great. I had never seen him in person before and I was really impressed. I'd go see him again. - Chris Snapp (Bellefontaine, OH) (5/9/2003) My father had passed away that month. Barry came to my work and I was invited to the concert. I took my sister with me. He just made our night when he sang, "Looks like we made it." We were going through a rough time. He is just the greatest! - Judy Bauer (Erlanger, KY) (9/19/2006) |

I loved the show. I was familiar with almost all of the songs he sang. He sounds so good. My favorite parts of the show were when he picked a woman named Darlene to come up on stage and sing "Can't Smile Without You." You could tell that moment made her life. And he mentioned before he sang "Somewhere Down The Road" that a lady that met him backstage had requested that song and that it had been 4 or 5 years since he had sang it. He said he wasn't sure he could remember all of the words but he would give it a shot. I think Barry is a very sincere and down to earth person. He cares about his fans and that means a lot. - Brenda Hongell (Hagerstown, MD) (4/8/2002) I liked it all! Barry is so caring and giving to his audience and fans. The show was wonderful. The time went by so fast and it was sad to see him go. All his songs are romantic and melodious. You fall in love every time you hear them. - Elza H. Carvalho (of Maryland) (4/8/2002) First Show: I liked everything about the concert. Barry is absolutely the BEST and I can't wait for him to come back here and do another show. Thank you very much, Barry, for a wonderful evening. I've waited 25 years to see you. It was sad to see you go... Next time, please "Stay"! - Grace Cura (Bristow, VA) (4/13/2002) I'd never seen Barry Manilow in concert before. [All I can say is...] Wow!! - Pamela Young (Dumfries, VA) (9/13/2002) I loved Barry's talent and wonderful voice. He gives 200% plus of himself. I have been a fan for years, but have never before been able to attend a concert. This was a real treat. However, it will not be the last one. - Joyce DeLage (Manassas, VA) (2/13/2003) Favorite Show: I got the best seats in the house - front row - and I was able to see Barry up close. I love his music and play it all the time. - Sandy Sera (Ashburn, VA) (2/21/2004) Barry took the time to sing "Let Freedom Ring" and talk about the attack on the World Trade Center... Red, white, blue confetti and streamers. It was a moving tribute. I had been afraid to take the Metro into DC, but I love Barry concerts, so I took a chance. I was not disappointed! I'm going to my 20th concert at Wolf Trap on August 17,2012. - Linda Musgrave (Herndon, Virginia) (8/13/2012) |

Florida/Sunrise (Sunrise Musical Theatre) |
Favorite Show: This was such an awesome show!! This was my third time seeing Barry, but the intimate atmosphere of the Sunrise Theatre made it feel like he was singing to ME! My mother and I hold Barry's music close to our hearts since it got us through some not-so-fun times ("we made it through the rain!!"), so it was hard not having her at this concert since we had seen our first Barry concert together back in 1997. Thank goodness for technology because little did he know, Nashville was listening to him sing also via my cellphone (I know that bill will not be pretty!). My favorite new song is "Not What You See" and I just loved it when he got in costume and performed this song. But the classics are always my favorite (and always get me choked up!). He is just such a genuine person and he made me feel like he was one of my great friends up there on stage. He is THE BEST performer ever!! - Lisa Stewart (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) (4/17/2002) Favorite Show (April 12): I have loved Barry Manilow since "Mandy." I was nine and Barry stole my heart! EVERYONE knew I was going to Sunrise to see my guy and they were as excited as I was. When we arrived and were shown to our seats I was shocked to see how close we were. I have never been so close to Barry and I felt all evening that he was singing just to me!! From the moment he took the stage he gave his all for every number. I love his enthusiasm and I am so thrilled that he is finally getting the respect he deserves! I loved hearing many of the "old songs" because Barry keeps them fresh and endearing. To hear the new songs from "Here at the Mayflower" was a joy! I really fell in love with this new material, and to see him perform it live was phenomenal! Barry never fails to touch me in a way that no one else ever has! Another excellent concert!! ... Thank you, Barry, for so many wonderful years. I Love You! - Kym Cope (West Palm Beach, FL) (4/17/2002, 5/8/2002) April 12: This concert was so special because I was able to give my mother and daughter (and myself) wonderful birthday gifts by flying us all to Florida for Barry's concert. This was my mother's first "Barry" concert, but my daughter (who just turned 26) and I have been to all of his concerts in Dallas and/or Austin since she was five years old. When my daughter was four, we watched the same concert on HBO 17 times in one month! We can NEVER get enough of Barry. Barry's "old songs" are timeless and always bring back such wonderful memories, and his new Mayflower CD is wonderful! My favorite of all his songs is "All The Time." We love you, Barry! - Gloria Ratley (Austin, TX) (5/16/2002) April 12: The morning of the concert started out great. Barry called the radio station I listen to, was interviewed by the DJ, and took calls from his fans. I have been to several of Barry's concerts and this one was the best. He seemed to be really having a lot of fun. I brought a friend who is a die-hard country music fan, and I made a Manilow fan out of her! Barry, please keep on writing that music. While it may make the young girls cry, it sure makes the heart of this middle-aged lady beat like a drum. - Marcia Holt (West Palm Beach, FL) (9/27/2002) Favorite Show: Barry puts on a fabulous show! I love his music!! - Jody Hook (Tamarac, FL) (7/18/2003) I had tricked a girlfriend into going to see this show with me. She was not a Manilow fan. I told her I was taking her to a company party. I needed her to go with me because there was a lady on the job who weighed close to 300 pounds that had a crush on me. I told my date that I needed to be seen with her to dissuade this other woman to leave me alone. As we are driving up to the Sunrise venue, my date is getting very nervous noticing all the cars. When she saw the Manilow marquee she could have killed me! Nonetheless Manilow was in great form. My date enjoy the Manilow magic that he always brings to any stage, anywhere at anytime. Being an African American, whenever I go to Manilow concerts here in South Florida, I notice that I am usually the only of "us" there and that is fine. I have been a fan since "Mandy". I am one of the faithfuls and proud to be. Hope to see him here in South Florida very soon. - Teddy Harrell, Jr. (Miami, FL) (5/20/2004) First Show (April 13): I've always loved Barry's music but I never had the chance to go to any of his concerts until 2002. My sister who just passed away in April brought me to [this show]. I've been to many concerts since I first saw him in 2002. - Nancy Crumley (Cochecton, NY) (10/7/2009) Highlights (April 12): I'm Comin' Back / Ready To Take A Chance Again / Daybreak / Somewhere In The Night / This One's For You / Looks Like We Made It / Bandstand Boogie / Mandy / Even Now / Could It Be Magic (ballad) / It's A Miracle (harmonizing edit) / Harmony (title song) / Every Single Day / New York City Rhythm / I Made It Through The Rain / Turn The Radio Up / Do You Know Who's Livin' Next Door / Come Monday / Talk To Me / Not What You See / They Dance! + encore / Welcome Home / Weekend In New England / Copacabana (At The Copa) + encore / I Write The Songs / We Live On Borrowed Time [ Manilow TV Episode #91 aired July 2017 ] |

What an incredible voice! I really liked the new songs. I liked the one about the two old people ("Not What You See"). I love all the old songs also. I've always loved Barry ... It's the best concert I have ever been to. - Beth Miller (Jacksonville, FL) (4/15/2002) Barry was no disappointment! Music was awesome and as usual, Barry was funny, personable and made each person feel as if he was singing to them. It's a real pleasure to have my husband go with me. He loves Barry's concerts as much as I do. It makes me smile to see the number of men at his concerts in recent years (who are there willingly, for the most part). I remember the years (70's, 80's) where a man wouldn't be caught dead at his concert and if a guy went, you were sworn to secrecy that he went. The new CD (Here at the Mayflower) is full of fabulous music. I love the way Barry hops from ballads, to show tunes, to jazz and now Broadway next year. Keep on trying new things. We love the musical adventure. - Cathy Weyand (4/15/2002) This was my second experience with Barry. My friends and I had so much fun. Have been a fan for years and will be at all of his Jacksonville concerts. An Excellent showman!! Can't want to see "Harmony" in New York. - Janice Kennedy (Jacksonville, FL) (4/19/2002) The concert was wonderful. I really enjoyed it! - Traci Butler (Jacksonville, FL) (4/20/2002) Favorite Show - Deb Ghandour (Jacksonville, FL) (4/29/2002) First Show - Kimble Quinn (Palm Harbor, FL) (5/2/2003) |

I liked Barry! The show was magnificent! Barry's future is bright. - Anne McCarthy (North Redington Beach, FL) (4/20/2002) I had a chance to go to Florida with my friends, and I must admit, I was not prepared for it to be as good as Radio City, but...Barry ROCKED "Ruthie's Place" that night! The sound was great, the venue was beautiful, the audience was excellent, the choir for "Let Freedom Ring" was fabulous. A wonderful night! BIG thumbs up for Barry!! - Gail Van Bergen (Toms River, NJ) (5/2/2002) I have been a fan since the 70's and had seen Barry many times on TV but this was the first time I lived close enough to see Mr. Manilow in person. He did a real number on me (at that time, a 69-year old lady). What I liked best was just Barry and his band. When we walked down the steps onto the stage, that was it...I was in love! A night I cannot forget!! - Lida Torrence (Clearwater, FL) (10/8/2003, 1/29/2011) |

First Show (April 19): What I liked about the show was BARRY, OF COURSE! He's only two years older than I am and I've been in love with him since I can remember! He was the greatest way back when music meant something to you and Barry hasn't lost the feelings he expresses in his music and the way he performs for his audiences. He's the best and always will be. I really admire the lady, Annette, who was able to be with him on stage. She was SOOOO lucky! My seat was in the rear of the auditorium and I never had a chance... Oh well, I am happy for her. She was able to fulfill her dream that night. Barry was wonderful! I'd go to all his concerts if I could. I know I'll be there when he comes back to the Fox here in Atlanta! I had purchased both CDs Ultimate Manilow and Here at the Mayflower before the concert and fell in love with him all over again. Then when he sang those familiar songs, WOW! I just can't say enough about him. He's still so handsome and sweet as always! - Jan Baker (Atlanta, GA) (4/21/2002) April 18: The show was GREAT! I feel really left out that I have missed Barry for so many years! I was probably 13 years old at my last show, and I must say I enjoyed it even more at 38 ... The seats we had at the Fox were awesome. My friend (Teresa) went with me and was a new fan when we left the theatre. She really had never listened to Barry's music. I believe her exact words were "That was awesome - I would see him again tomorrow night if we had tickets." Thanks, Barry, for a night of great entertainment and a lot of years of great music. - Janet Hammonds (Calhoun, GA) (4/22/2002) April 18: It was FANTASTIC!! It has been 20 years since Barry was last here... I still remember back 27 years and hearing "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again" on the jukebox. Selection B9 to be exact! That is all we ever played. I was amazed how he sounds exactly like his recorded music. What a showman! The best part of the show was when he sniffed up in his nose and made the noise loudly and made light of it. I enjoyed the ending which was a Salute to America. Only he could be classy enough to do an arrangement so well. Thank you. Keep up the wonderful music!! - Karen (of Aplharetta, GA) (4/23/2002) April 18: I was in the Choir from Kennesaw State University that sang with Barry on "Let Freedom Ring" and "It's A Miracle" so I got to meet him personally. He is truly an amazing person. Although he is very business-oriented, he is very kind. Not only was this my first Manilow concert, but it was my first time being on Stage at the WONDERFUL Fox Theatre. It was AMAZING, all those fans screaming at him (Barry), it was great. Thanks to his group of WONDERFUL people that helped us with everything. - Nathan (of Kennesaw, GA) (4/26/2002) Barry was absolutely, completely, and totally awesome! Barry's Atlanta shows were my 3rd & 4th Manilow concerts and the best ones yet! A friend and I ordered our tickets from the BMIFC, and we had awesome seats: 4th row in the pit both nights! Barry was fabulous. He made us laugh. He moved us to tears. He had us up on our feet and dancing. He never looked and sounded so good! The responses from the audience both nights were absolutely wonderful! Deafening cheers and screams, thunderous applause, and lots of standing ovations! Barry, you're the best!! - Karen (of Easley, SC) (5/7/2002) April 19: Barry never fails to entertain, bring laughs and tears... and watching his facial expressions why he is singing "Somewhere in the Night" will make any woman a fan! I've seen Barry several times over the years. However, THIS WAS THE NIGHT MY DREAM came true... face to face with Barry Manilow... singing "Can't Smile Without You"! - Annette Church (Gastonia, NC) (6/11/2002) ("Can't Smile girl") This is the best I have ever seen Barry perform. He was totally amazing!! - Dawn Kershner (of Bronson, FL) (7/11/2002) Just seeing Barry was a thrill, but [I loved] how he mixed the old songs with the new. The [way] he performed each one was just the best I had ever seen. He is truly a wonderful performer. - Helena Harris (Charlotte, NC) (7/12/2002) I have been to many concerts in many cities but this one was the best yet. Due to events beyond control, my mom could not make her trip from Chicago, but I was able to take a friend. We sat fourth row center and had the time of our lives (for a couple of 40-somethings, that is)! To see Barry's passion for his music up close was very emotional for me. - Margaret Cavitt (Atlanta, GA) (4/10/2003) April 19: Oh My Gosh! What a Great Show! The only problem I had was [my wife and I] were seated way up near the stars and saw Barry from an incredible distance. I walked and walked up the stairs and my wife thought that I was going to need CPR! The music was intense as always, the light show was immaculate, and the whole concert was fantastic. Barry did a great tribute to 9-11 and this brought tears to many around me including me and my wife. Thanks for a great Anniversary present Barry! - David and Amy Brown (Atlanta, GA) (8/10/2003) First Show: Barry, you are loved! I love you and I don't think I'm alone!! - April Dawn (of Georgia, formerly Texas) (9/29/2004, 6/2/2010) April 19: I have been a fan of Barry Manilow's music since he first came out with "Mandy" when I was in high school. I have purchased every album he has ever recorded and still play his music frequently. My wife likes many kinds of music, but had really never gained an appreciation for the sentimental ballads and romantic music that I prefer. This concert changed her thinking to the point that we ordered Barry's autobiography off of Amazon.com, and she read every word of it. She also began to really appreciate his tremendous talent as a composer, arranger, and musician. We have fond memories of that night at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta where we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at the Barry Manilow concert. We both now enjoy listening to his beautiful love songs together! - Greg B. (of Columbus, GA) (1/11/2006) Actually, I love all the Barry concerts I've been to, but this one was special because it was out of town and my daughter went with me. Plus we had a friend who lived in Atlanta going with us. We had such super seats, 4 rows from the stage, right in the center, and Barry was SO close! His performance was absolutely sensational. He played all the "hits", plus some new ones and he never has a bad song in his concert. It was the first time I had seen him sing "Let Freedom Ring" and it was just so emotional to be there with him and the choir that sang with him. It made me so proud to be an American! When the streamers burst from above, it was a celebration! I took lots of them with me that night and still have them. Thanks, Barry, for all the great memories!! - Millie Briand (Olathe, KS) (6/20/2009) |

"Ultimate Manilow!" CBS TV Taping/Concert The taping of the CBS special was so exciting. I'll never forget it! All the excitement leading up to it. We didn't know we had tickets until the night before we were ready to leave! Then flying to Hollywood... I actually got teary on the plane a few times, because I was "going to see Barry!" The concert itself was so special because we got to see a different side of him. He would stop and politely insist on doing a song over again and chat with the audience in between songs. It was the most down-to-earth I've ever seen him. The opening number was fabulous ("Ready To Take A Chance Again"). We weren't allowed to scream until a certain point in the song and I thought we'd bring the house down when we were finally given permission to go nuts. The man never lets his audience down! He gives 200% and I am amazed at his energy level!! - Debbie Goss (Park Ridge, IL) (9/23/2002) |
