New on Manilow TV for September:
Greatest Hits and Then Some
New York State Fair - September 2, 1993

Hi Everyone,

Before I introduce this month’s video, let me send out my best wishes and deepest hopes that all of you, your friends and loved ones are okay and hanging in during the Covid-19 drama.

Garry and I are okay. Marc and his family are okay. The band and the crew are okay. So far all of us have made it through this very scary time.

We all know people who have suffered with it and some of us have lost people to the virus. But as far as I know, our close friends and families are healthy.

I hope – really hope – you are all playing by the rules and not being reckless. This virus is serious. You don’t want to get it. And staying healthy is really easy.

Just wear a piece of cloth over your nose and mouth, stay 6 feet away from people and stay home as much as you can. That doesn’t seem like a lot to ask.

So please-please don’t fool around with this thing. I really want to see everyone at the Westgate when it’s all over.

Okay.

Now. On to this month’s video.

We found a real goody from the summer of 1993.

It was a medley of “Firsts”.

It was our first State Fair. We did a bunch of them that summer and the audiences were always great even if the accommodations weren’t!

They always set up the amusement parks right near the stage, so we were always competing with the “throw up rides”. We all could hear people screaming and shrieking during “I Am Your Child”. Ah, show biz.

It was the first time I received a letter asking me to allow someone to propose to his girl.

I stopped the show, had him come down to the edge of the stage, get on his knees (like he’ll probably be for the rest of his life!) and ask her to marry him.

But another first, was that I had received TWO requests like that. So we did the whole thing twice!

It was great.

And the last “First” was during “Weekend In New England”. I’m pretty sure it was the very first time the audience screamed on the line “When can I touch you”. It seems that the band and I look very surprised when that happens. Check it out. See if I’m right.

The show was great. The audience was great.

Watching the show made me miss being with you, my band, my crew and making music.

Let’s all hope and pray that this terrible time goes by fast.

Stay safe everyone.

Love,
Barry
