Now on Manilow TV for September:
MANILOW - June 17, 2012 - Kansas City, Missouri!
Hi Everyone, Boy, this show brought back memories for me! We had finished our run at “Paris Las Vegas”, which, by the way, was the most gorgeous production we’d ever had. We took some time off and went back on the road. We wound up in Kansas City on June 17th 2012, my birthday! The audience was great. They loved the set of songs. I loved those songs too, but the very rare song during this show was “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.” It came from one of the Decades albums and we’d never done the song live. It’s got to be one of the most emotional songs I’ve ever done. The inspiration for the song, (written by Bob Russell and Bobby Scott, and originally made famous by “The Hollies”), was a photo of a young man carrying his polio-stricken brother on his back. I must say, looking up at that photo made it very hard to sing the song. Thank goodness “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” was the next song! “Tryin’ To Get The Feeling” and “All The Time” went over great too. The audience was so energetic, they brought me out for an encore. Since the band had left the stage and were already in their dressing rooms, I came out alone and sang the encore alone. It was just me and 10,000 folks. I think you’ll like this one. Enjoy,
