Album Debut Event Live from Paris Las Vegas Scheduled To Air on QVC
January 19th at 9 PM (ET)/ 6 PM (PST) (New York- January 13, 2010) Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award-winning recording artist Barry Manilow teams up once again with longtime collaborator, Arista Records founder Clive Davis (now Chief Creative Officer, Sony Music Entertainment,) to record a brand new studio album entitled THE GREATEST LOVE SONGS OF ALL TIME to be released on January 26th. The legendary performer and pop music icon is scheduled to debut his new album on QVC during a special live broadcast on Tuesday, January 19 at 9 PM (ET) / 6pm PT from Paris Las Vegas, the new home to his reimagined stage show which debuts on March 5th. During the Barry Manilow QSessions Live show, Manilow will give viewers a sneak peek of his much-anticipated new release with a special performance featuring a selection of songs from THE GREATEST LOVE SONGS OF ALL TIME. Manilow has appeared on QVC several times in recent years and in 2007 held the record for the highest single-day sales by a musical artist in QVC history. On THE GREATEST LOVE SONGS OF ALL TIME, co-produced by Manilow, Clive Davis, and Michael Lloyd (Somewhere in Time and Dirty Dancing), Manilow presents loving interpretations and arrangements of classic love songs for the Manilow and music fan alike. The album selections include American standards, as well as songs from the “Great White Way” and silver screen including Irving Berlin’s ”How Deep Is The Ocean?,” and George Gershwin’s “Love is Here To Stay.” Other beloved hits include: “You Made Me Love You,” “I’ve Got A Crush On You,” “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “The Theme From Love Story (Where Do I Begin),” “Nevertheless (I’m In Love With You),” and “It Could Happen To You.” The album also features great renditions of “The Look Of Love,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “The Twelfth of Never,” and an emotional reading of “When You Were Sweet Sixteen.” “I’ve loved these songs for as long as I can remember,” said Manilow. “It was an honor to sing songs written by some of the masters of pop songwriting.” Comments Clive Davis: “Barry and I have a mission to bring to a new generation the great songs that are the soundtrack of our lives. This album does just that and Barry is sounding better than ever. I really think that this could be the most beautiful album Barry’s ever made.” Manilow says, “The last song on the CD is a wonderful song called “When You Were Sweet Sixteen.” It’s the first pop love song ever written. It was composed in 1898 and it’s as meaningful today as it was over a hundred years ago.” Clive Davis has been a perennial collaborator with Barry Manilow on virtually all his recordings, since they first worked together on “Mandy,” Manilow’s debut #1 single as the first artist signed to Arista by Davis in 1974, the first year of the label’s existence. THE GREATEST LOVE SONGS OF ALL TIME is Barry Manilow’s follow-up to the mega-bestselling series of “Decades” albums that he masterminded with Clive Davis. The series began in January 2006 with The Greatest Songs Of The Fifties, which entered the Billboard 200 album chart at #1, and was certified RIAA platinum. The Greatest Songs Of The Sixties (October 2006) entered at #2.
