If Wasilla High band members weren't "Fanilows" by now, they will be after winning $10,000 from the Manilow Music Project. The band placed fourth in Barry Manilow's $100,000 instrument and uniform giveaway. In the announcement video, Manilow said he was bombarded with submissions from high schools needing new instruments. "We got to know so many of you," he said. "You guys were funny, witty, so sincere about the importance of your music classes." Manilow said it was hard to choose just one winner so he and his team decided to add some runner-up prizes, and four more schools received money from the giveaway. Manilow Music Project was founded by Barry Manilow more than thirty years ago. The organization provides music scholarships and supports music education across the country. The grand prize winner of the $100,000 uniform and instrument giveaway was the East Duplin High School music program in North Carolina.
