Barry Manilow & Bruce Sussman

One of the top ranking Adult Contemporary chart artists of all time, Barry Manilow has worked on more than 40 albums as a singer, songwriter, arranger and producer. He's also had a lucrative parallel career as a jingle writer. Theater veteran—and writer-lyricist-composer—Barry Sussman has co-written more than 200 published and recorded songs for scores of artists, films, television programs and stage musicals—the majority of which were written with Manilow. The two have been writing together for more than 40 years, with projects that include the song and the musical, "Copacabana," and the song "Let Freedom Ring" for the televised bicentennial celebration of the U.S. Constitution. The latest project of the Grammy-winning songwriting partners is the musical, Harmony, based on a real-life German singing group that battled to stay together (and alive) as the Nazis ascended to power in 1930s Germany.

QVC's Q Sessions Live
Barry is scheduled to unveil his new album,
MY DREAM DUETS, on QVC during
“Barry Manilow: Q Sessions Live®” Friday, October 17 at 6 PM (ET).

During an illustrious four-decade career, music has been pop legend Barry Manilow's passion. As a Grammy(R), Tony(R), and Emmy(R) award-winning musician, he's achieved unprecedented success as a singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer, musician, and performer. On My Dream Duets, he merges the miracles of modern technology with his brilliance as an arranger to pay tribute to eleven late artists who were some of his musical idols. He's taken original solo performances of each guest artist, re-orchestrated each of the songs with updated arrangements, and added his own vocals into the mix to create all-new musical tracks. The result is a remarkable artistic triumph featuring fresh interpretations of signature songs from some of the greatest performers of all time, including Whitney Houston, John Denver, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Louis Armstrong, and more. Although these legendary singers are no longer with us, this extraordinary collection of duets (run time 36:45) allows their iconic voices to live on to entertain all generations of music lovers. Plus, you'll also receive a bonus CD with four never-released live tracks (run time 17:21) compiled especially for QVC(R) customers from Barry's hit album Live in London. The chart-topping Live in London was recorded at the O2 Arena May 4-11, 2011 with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

During the LIVE broadcast, Barry performed "Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart" with Judy Garland, "Sunshine On My Shoulders" with John Denver, "Sweet Heaven (I'm In Love Again)," "I Believe In You And Me" with Whitney Houston, "Who's Been Sleeping In My Bed," "What A Wonderful World/What A Wonderful Life" with Louis Armstrong, and "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again."

Barry's back with dream duet line-up

Billboard Magazine claims Barry Manilow is officially the number one adult contemporary chart artist of all time, and his catalogue of mega selling albums and hit singles is incredible. “Mandy”, “Copacabana”, “Can’t Smile Without You” and “I Write The Songs” are just a few of them and now has yet another album My Dream Duets. He caught up with Richard Wilkins from his home in Palm Springs. A career as long as Manilow’s is almost unheard of, so what’s the secret to Barry’s success? ”I do things that I believe in, I throw it out there - some of them stick to the wall and some don’t.”

His new album is what some can only dream of, duets with some of the best singers of all time. “It shouldn’t have worked, the idea was so out there. The album is just fantastic.”

My Dream Duets includes original recording of Mama Cass Elliott, Dusty Springfield, John Denver among others with Manilow singing along, bolstering already powerful ballads. Manilow is overwhelmed by how good and seamless the album sounds. “Whitney and Judy and Louis Armstrong, it sounded like we were singing together yesterday” he said.

Richard talks about the disrespect among younger audiences, citing the movement by Rockdale City Council to keep young delinquents out of car parks by playing Barry Manilow and using pink lighting. Barry is undeterred. “I think it’s a good laugh. What they don’t tell you is that the kids like it!”

Barry Manilow’s new album My Dream Duets is out now, available in stores and online.

Barry Manilow Opens Up About Being Bette Midler's Piano Man: Barry Manilow is now a music legend, but the singer began his impressive career as Bette Midler's piano man until he decided to sing his own songs. "The Insider With Yahoo" co-anchor Louis Aguirre spoke to Barry about that time of his life. "When 'Mandy' hit No. 1, it was kind of like a joke, you know. When I told Bette that I got a record deal, she said, 'Doing what?' I said, 'Singing.'" And while he's not quick to call himself a legend, he does consider Bette to be one. "She's a movie star — that's not who I am — more so than me. I'm a musician, and I'm a very grateful guy."
